The official that Patrick gave the ball to. He surely was aware who had possession. Why didn;t he step up?

Of all this, that's what I really don't get. How did they award Oregon the ball when they obviously never found the ball in that pile?

Because at that point...they had already decided to give it to Oregon. I am sure that their bank accounts are alot bigger this week.
