Upon further review the coup touched the tank within 10 yards.

Yeah, I did that earlier, JK. Thanks. So far there aren't any and travel is still safe.

We'll see how quickly that changes if any violence breaks out...

Was there any hint of this? I had heard of problems in the south, but nothing this big. Not good at all.

We had been hearing coup rumours for several months. I first discounted it because of the royal approval of the October 15 election. Then, the election was delayed until the end of November and some army observers were saying that the generals were dissatisfied with PM Thaksin interferring with the annual military reshuffle in October.

In my opinion, it is a sad day for any country when the military with guns and tanks take power from an elected government. It's also sad that Thailand would have had fresh elections anyway in two months.

I've put a positive spin on it in my stock market report, however, because it finally resolves the political crisis that has hurt the country since the beginning of the year.

And, the coup makers are making all the right noises about turning over power to a royally appointed interim government in two weeks and holding election within one year. Let's hope they keep their promises.

LAS, no worries here. Everything will be back to normal tomorrow.
