instead of playing a 2nd tier BCS wannabe in a home and home series again.

By all means schedule the true powers from other BCS conferences like Miami, Ohio State and even USC.

It just seems that when we play against a wannabe program like Oregon and TT the desparation of that program and those affiliated with it, like the referres who live and work in the community where the wannabe program is located, apparently causes too many of them to cross the ethical line and forget about integrity when doing their job.

I truly feel that the pressure of the entire program, community and state emintaing from their intense desire to be recognized as a big time program truly affected the officitiating crew's judgement Saturday.

I think the same thing happened last year in Lubbock but OU has no control over whether we play them or not.

Hopefully we'll get good enough again where we're smashing these teams and so it's pointless to pull that crap. If we'd been up by 4 TD's, it wouldn't have mattered. :(

Conference referees aren't the same thing as hometown referees. For all we know the review official lives across the street from Oregon State in Corvallis.

True, but specifically with TT, we found out that the official that made the call was a Lubbock businessman.

Even in 2003 we had a close game against Alabama in Tuscaloosa. We could have very well have lost that game if the officiating had been as crooked as what we saw from the PAC 10 on Saturday.

You will always have close games and if the NCAA really wants teams to schedule these types of series there has to be some assurance that you'll get fair treatment on the road.

For all we know at least 2 of the officials could work for Nike. And I can almost guarantee you that 2 of the 3 people who sit in the replay booth live in Eugene and are associated with the Oregon program.

I fail to understand how a coporate CEO goes to jail for bending the rules. Martha Stewart goes to prison for insider trading. Pete Rose gets banned from baseball for gambling. However, a NCAA referee can make an obvious cheating call, and nothing happens? Crooked cops go to jail. This call costs O.U. millions of dollars in potential bowl appearances and ticket sales. How can such obvious cheating be sanctioned and approved by the NCAA. This gives college football and the NCAA a black eye. It's not any different that the Chicago "black" socks scandal. Something needs to be done harshly to change peoples' faith in the system. If calls like this are allowed to continue, one might as well quit supporting college athletics since games are not decided by the players and coaches. JMO.

Just a note:

Those were BIG XII officials in Tuscaloosa, and we had SEC officials in Norman. Its an unwritten rule that conferences go by when scheduling home and homes. Well except for the PAC 10 that is. They refuse to do it that way.

Now that is a crock of **** that needs to be fixed, regardless of what happened in Oregon. If the Pac-10 considers themselves so far above the other conferences because of the number of diving and hacky-sack championships they have then they should just drop out of the NCAA altogether and circle-jerk each other.

Maybe from now on, teams from other conferences will strong arm the Pac 10 into doing it this way from now on.

Call it a 'we don't trust your refs in your own teams environment' rule.

I think its about travel costs moreso than anything else, which is why the other conferences have no problem agreeing to it.

If that is infact the case no wonder Oregon is 24-1 against non-conference opponents.
