the tens of USC fans will disappear again once SUC returns to earth.

like OU did last year.
like OhState did a few years ago.
like Miami is now.
like FSU has been doing.
like Nebbish is now.
like Texas is now.
like ND did over the last decade.

Many of these programs have solid fans who will ride things like this out (OU, OSU, NU, UT), and some don't. USC fans will become UCLA fans once it's USC's turn.
