I watched this movie when it came out and thought it was the best movie I had ever seen. I just realized that I haven't seen it since it came out. I'm watching it and don't remember anything about the movie other than the fact that Brandon Lee blew his head off before filming was complete.

Anyway, it's on TNT right now. You haven't missed more than 20 minutes of it if you turn it on RIGHT NOW!

Didn't Brandon accidentally get shot on the set? I thought he died in some random accident like his dad?

From Wikipedia:

Because the movie's second unit (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Second_unit) team were running behind schedule, it was decided that dummy cartridges — bullets (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bullet) that outwardly appear to be functional, but contain no gunpowder (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gunpowder) — would be made from real cartridges, which had been brought to the set, earlier in production. Bruce Merlin, an effects technician, dismantled the live cartridges by removing the bullets, emptying out the gunpowder, detonating the primer, and reinserting the bullets. This rendered the cartridges inoperative, but realistic in appearance. Merlin and his propmaster, Daniel Kuttner, took initiative to create some blanks by removing live cartridges, and replacing the gunpowder with firework (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Firework) powder; the bullets were not reinserted.
Later, a cartridge with only a primer and a bullet, was fired in a pistol; this caused the bullet to lodge in the forcing cone of the revolver. When the first unit used this gun to shoot the death scene, the chamber was loaded with blanks which had no bullets. However, there was still the bullet in the barrel, which was propelled out by the blank cartridge's explosion. Consequently, Lee was shot and severely wounded, as cameras were rolling at the Carolco Studios in Wilmington, North Carolina (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wilmington%2C_North_Carolina). Seconds later, director Alex Proyas (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alex_Proyas) stopped the scene, but Lee remained on the floor. Stuntman (and Lee's friend) Jeff Imada ran over to him with a paramedic, and discovered a thin slit, an inch below to the right of his navel; by this time, Lee had slipped into unconciousness, and was rushed to the hospital where doctors discovered that a bullet was the cause of the damage. They fought for five hours in an attempt to save him, but at 1:04 PM he was pronounced dead.

He was shot in the abdomen, not the head.

Great movie with a great soundtrack.

I think he put a gun with blanks in it up to his head and pulled the trigger. A blank that close works just like a bullet. They say it was an accident.

No, I want you to set a fire so goddamn big, the gods will notice us again, that's what I'm saying. I want all you boys to look me straight in the eye one more time and say: ARE WE HAVING FUN OR WHAT? Hey, you! What's your name? Skank? You don't feel that?

I feel like a little ****in' worm on a big ****in' hook

I freely admit this is one of my top 5 movies of all time. If you don't own the extended version 2 dvd set with deleted scenes you are missing out bigtime.

Is that gasoline I smell?

Ah - a fanboy. There is always at least one in the group.

eh..not really, because the second and third movies were complete tripe, and I'm glad they never made a 4th movie with a female avenging soul.

But there were key points of the story that were left out in the final cut. Those points were nicely glossed over via the rest of the final editing, but there was one character that they omitted (I believe primarily due to Brandon's death) that tied a whole lot of the story together.

I think I mainly liked the fact that it was such a dark action movie rather than the popcorny style of most action films.
