Actually I tend to agree, but Peart is one of the few rock drummers deserving of even being mentioned in the same thread as Bonham. All the members of RUSH cite Zeppelin as one of their primary influences.

Indeed he is. The guy is amazing. There are actually more than a few drummers that are up there in their class, but I just can't get past how insane that guy was.

Buddy Rich is phenomenal, just like most good jazz drummers. I still don't understand how such good drumming comes out of such bad music.

Because the guy that taught Buddy Rich to play the drums was a grumpy old man that taught lessons in a closet with a music stand and a practice pad. Liked to say "If you can't play it on a pad you've got no business anywhere near a real drum." Mean sumbitch. My dad took lessons from the same guy.
