We put down new zoysia sod in our backyard last July and it's done really well. We constantly water it and mow it to the correct hieght and its just looking really good.

Recently (the last two weeks) though I've been noticing little holes being dugout in the sod and other parts of the lawn. At the time I thought it was an armadillo and I was planning to sit out on the patio and try to catch it in the act.

Well the wife comes in the den the other night and tells me an armadillos in the back digging around. I jump up and get my crossbow pick up some bolts and sneak out to the backyard to shoot the little bugger. Well the wife also told my daughter. So I'm sneaking back out to shoot
him but the daughters comes out there while I'm sneaking and says "Dad you can't shoot that poor little thing" and I tell her to be quiet it's a pest and we need to be rid of it. She then proceeds to say Oh no you're not and starts clapping and running through the yard to scare him away and she does...... So now I'm going to have to livetrap him or if I do shoot him I have to do it when the wife and daughter aren't around.

Anybody know what kind of bait you use to catch an Armadillo?

Might I suggest a young studly fellow to distract the daughter?

I'm gonna have to live trap it now.

I had this problem last year. I went to Sam's and bought a commercial size container of dried wasabi powder. My lawn stunk to high holy hell for a couple of days, but they never came back. They are very sensitive to bad smells.

I've got the same problem. I've read that they are impossible to bait. Best bet is finding the den and putting the live trap near the den with a funnel to the trap.

My neighbor and I are going to sit up all night next week with a spotlight and a shotgun. They key will be getting everything cleaned up before the cops show up.
