Any of you see that they're redoing some of the effects in the original Star Trek series, a la George Lucas? The first episode airs this weekend. They're redoing the entire series and are showing them weekly over the next couple of years. I'm not generally a fan of this kind of thing but since they're not actually replacing the originals, I think it's going to be kind of interesting. I hope they change the various Yeoman chicks outfits - maybe something like the EP6 Princess Leia outfit. :D

I love TOS, and I hope their edits work. The shows look very dated, but the characters and most of the plots are still first-rate.
As with Star Wars, I think it's a good thing when they take an existing movie and update it to look fresher without spoiling the original intent. What Lucas did to THX-1138 is a great example.

For instance, I'd be a little miffed if they decided to go back and add Sulu a boyfriend.

I'm a little worried. I mean...the technology is there, but just barely.
And besides...they can't change the uniforms...or the acting. :D

Great characters can make bad acting "endearing". Such was TOS.
Hey, y'all's beanies are stickin' out.

True...they can. And the did. That's why the show still endures.
But after seeing what they did with S.W.T.O.S., I just don't know that I trust 'em. But it'll be interesting to see what happens.

Don't forget the stories. Some of the greatest SF writers of the 20th century contributed to Star Trek.
I think the "remasters" will be well done and that I will enjoy the shows all over again. I also liked the Star Wars "remasters" with the one exception that "Greedo shot first" = lame-*** cop out.
I'll let you all know after "Miri" and "Balance of Terror" this weekend. :D

It was gonna say "toof", but after the "k" debacle I decided it was best to just use the letters that were already available.

That needs a sequel where she asks the audience and the overwhelming response is "nutsack" :)
I won't watch it. Star Trek TOS is like Bonanza in space while on weed and mellow bourbon.
Why would they change that?
