Oklahoma's mascot Sooner, for some reason, was voted into the Capital One Mascot Challenge. He is facing Otto from Syracuse this week and is slightly behind. Even though you might not like the horse mascots, you hopefully don't like the school losing. So go vote!

I can't believe we're losing to a piece of fruit.

At least Sooner's signature move isn't squeezing his nose like he's milking himself.

I think the changes they made to the costume helped quite a bit. The bambi eyes and pig noses are gone, which were my 2 main beefs.

I'm shocked, shocked I tell you, that a company like Capital One has half-assed the website for this contest (missing links, under construction pages). Did I mention that Capital One can suck it?

The Interview

At least he isn't stupid-loves the OU pom squad.

Name: Sooner
School: University of Oklahoma
Height: 6' 5"
Weight: 255 lbs
Birth: September 1, 2005
Prominent Feature: Bicep circumference – 29
Signature Move: Back flip / Front flip

INT: The crowd needs hyping...let me know what you might do to start the fire.
SOONER: Nothing beats leading our crowd with signs and getting the stadium chanting "BOOMER!"..."SOONER!" It is SO loud. I also like to direct the band in our fight song.

INT: What is the top-secret, rarely disclosed portion of your pre-game warm up? The single action that makes you "do what you do". Take me there.
SOONER: I love a big pre-game warm up that includes a huge meal with lots of water. I need to stay hydrated for the marathon that is game day in Norman, OK.

INT: I understand that you are a horse, a horse that walks on two legs. Does this seem at all odd to you? Do other horses seem miffed by your skills?
SOONER: To mere mortals, I'm sure that this seems odd. This may cause jealousy to you bipeds, but, I am "Sooner" and represent the most incredible fan base in college athletics, thus, I am a horse who knows no boundaries.

INT: If you could only pick one food for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?
SOONER: I also love the tender green chomp of Oklahoma sweet grass/alfalfa blend that they grow just north of Norman.

INT: Tell me which of these is a more surefire way of taking spirit to the limit: a good old fashioned high kick into the air; a swinging round house kick at a papier-mâché replica of the opposing team's mascot; or the firing of a t-shirt cannon into the crowd?
SOONER: None of the above. I love doing back flips off the walls that surround Owen Field. You should watch the scared photographers scatter in utter fear as the scramble to clear my landing zone.

INT: I am in love...not with you, well at least not yet, but are you in love with a special someone?
SOONER: I love our crazy, die-hard fans and all the kids I see on game days. But my true love, without a doubt is the OU Pom Squad. I will love them forever and ever.

INT: Honestly, is there such a thing as a "horse whisperer" or is that all a bunch of #*&@?
SOONER: Well, I don't believe in ghosts, communicating with the great beyond or a mere mortal understanding a horse. But, if he could understand me, he definitely wouldn't hear any whispering, he would hear yelling and cheering at the top of my lungs.

INT: What is your funniest/most embarrassing moment?
SOONER: One of my favorite dances is the robot. Once, while doing that dance for a young OU fan, I actually had him convinced that I was a real, honest to goodness robot. It was hilarious.

Okay. I voted. But I had thankfully missed seeing the horse on any TV broadcasts this year. Now that I've seen it, I'm going to have nightmares (chortle), I just know it.

I didn't think they could get uglier, but I was wrong.

I honestly don't have a problem with Sooner...this one or the last one. At least it's something that relates to our university. UNLIKE Top Dawg (dog, daug). That dang thing at basketball games drove me nuts. I'd always get asked by outsiders as to why we had a dog as a mascot. *shrug* And no, I'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with Mex. Good ridance. Keep that dog out of sight. *flaming can begin......now*
