Going to the MU game next month and will be staying in KC for Friday and Saturday night. I'm looking for two good places to eat. Not necessarily 5 star restaurants, just good food. Also, which is the best Casino to go to? Do you still have to pay for drinks?
TIA
I like Harrah's meself, and the steak place in there is damned good.

Yeah I went to Ameristar back in 2000 (when it was called The Station) and I think the drinks were $2.00. never had time to go eat a proper meal.

we went there just to eat basically the Sunday after the NU game last year, they ended up playing some Blackjack for a while, but nothing too serious

Garrozzo's: 3rd and Harrison, near downtown in "Little Italy". Excellent Italian.
Lidia's: In the Freight House District, near downtown/Union Station.
Pierpont's: In lobby of Union Station.
Jack's Stack BBQ: Located near Lidia's, see above. (The Crown Prime Rib of Beef is not to be missed.
Trio: 35th and Broadway.
Savoy Grill: Great seafood. Location on the National Register. A page out the 19th century.
McCormick and Schmick: On the Plaza. Great seafood here, too.
Note: These venues do not allow gambling on the premises. ;)

Over the years I have eaten at The Savoy Grill at least a dozen times, with a year ago March being the last time. It is a step back into the past. I love it and the food is great (at least it was a year ago March). It's not cheap but I have eaten at way more expensive places.

Jack's Stack BBQ is okay but it isn't a place that feels like BBQ. Dean would get up and leave a place like Jack's Stack because it is too fancy to be a BBQ place. Arthur Bryant's not only feels like BBQ it IS BBQ! Pass the sauce. ;)

well Dean also invited LAS back to the SO, so his opinion in BBQ, football or anything manly is dead to me. :D :D :D :D

With that said I have only been to the original Arthur Bryant's on Brooklyn Avenue so that is the only one I can speak of.

The Italian Garden downtown used to be great. The last time I ate there was about five years ago and it sucked. Went by there a couple of years ago and it was shut down. Sad how places like that just go to crap then close.

Also you might enjoy Stephenson's Old Apple Farm Restaurant in Independence. It is not really too far from the casinos

La Cocina del Puerco in OP used to have some killer Messican food but the changed owners about three years ago and it's not the same. :(

I almost forgot about Cascone's for Italian. The one on the north side of the river isn't too far from the casinos. The one I have eaten at the most is Johnny Cascone's in OP. This is where I get my Cascone's salad dressing when I am in the KC area.

On my avoid list is KC Masterpiece Restaurants. I would go to Jacks Stack before KC Masterpiece.
