from Drudge:

Katie Couric CBS 'EVENING NEWS' premiered with a 9.1 household, metered market rating and fell continuously thereafter: 9.1--7.0--6.5--4.9. Friday's household rating earned Katie third place... Developing...

My prediction all along – Perky Katie is nothing more than a failed experiment. Nobody wants to watch the “Today Show” at supper time. If CBS would only have hired Lestor Holt (a real man), they’d be rockin 6 months from now – but nobody ever listens to me.

Honestly, I don't know if its Katie's fault or the networks. It seems to me that the network put a lot of effort into "presenting" her on the evening news and that that was, in my opinion, totally counterproductive. Had they simply sat her at the news desk and let her do what news folks are supposed to do, I think they would have gotten better results.

What people still watch the network news? I have maybe watched the network news 5 times in the last 10 years, and I don't think I have missed much either.

it killed her to have such soft stories on her opener.

yep, the least they could have done was make-up some government scandal or doctor up some TX ANG documents for her to "break" to the adoring masses.

Yeah, the one's that aren't putting in 50+ hours a week like us young'uns!;)

I don't think I know of anyone that is home by 6:30 to settle in for the national news. Maybe gubment workers...

I'm old, but I ain't seen "the evening news" in probably 15 years. If it comes on during daylight, I haven't seen it.

Even on days when I am not working, (freelance) I don't turn it on.

I'm over 45 and I work 50+ per week, but I don't watch the nerdworks
for news. I watch fox and take it all with two grains of salt.

Katie who?

precisely. I mean, you wouldn't take a evening news reader named Sammy or Timmy seriously, and ditto a Katie or Susie.

I don't watch the news, it's too depressing and I usually wanna smack the spit outta the newspeople.

what i despise most about the mainstream media, is that they try like hell to tell us what we should be offended about, or not

case in point - the comments made by Ahhnold out in california, about the latina......the woman who the comments were directed at said she had absolutely no problem with what he said - it should have stopped there, but it didnt....
