I'm looking for a statistic that tells how many millions of dollars people spend each year on music (cd's, concert tickets, etc.)

TIA

www.google.com

Or you could go to the Department of Labor website or something and go through their annual report.

well on RIAA's site i found "Music is the world's universal form of communication. It touches every person of every culture on the globe to the tune of $40 billion annually, and the U.S. recording industry accounts for fully one-third of that world market."

that's close enough for my purpose. I just needed a rough number to throw into my TV pitch for a class because my show idea deals w/ music.
