Got this in my e-mail today. I'm old so someone please explain the felonious acts being perpetrated here.
TIA
Today, in just one single day, TU Information Services will process ten (10) claims of entertainment related copyright infringement reported to
us overnight.
This is near our record and a significant problem. The consequence,
according to University policy, is that alleged offenders are notified.
Material in violation of copyright law must be removed from their
computers. Any subsequent second notification will result in the
termination of networking services.
Four of the reports come to us from the Recording Industry Association
of America, Inc. Three are from Universal Studios. Three are from the
Entertainment Software Association.
The following policy on our Information Services website is now somewhat
dated and the tools have evolved; however, the nature of the problem
remains the same. Please read "What You Should Know About P2P File
Sharing" under policies at http://www.is.utulsa.edu/policies.
More specifically, the document is at:
http://www.is.utulsa.edu/artman/publish/article_69.shtml
Similarly, the University computer ethics policy clearly references
local, state, and federal statutes and other University policies.
Please re-read the ethics policy at
http://www.is.utulsa.edu/artman/publish/article_3.shtml
