Wanted to pass along that we had our first organizational meeting yesterday before the game. We got the 10 required signatures on the constitution-plus a bunch more-and have official university sanction.

Any of you photoshop wizards want to take a crack at the t-shirt design for us? We've got some people working on it, and the general theme we agreed on was the Sooner Schooner being pulled by sled dogs.

Also, if people could link to other OU Club websites-we're still trying to decide on what our dues are going to be and setting up scholarship committees and such and would love to hear suggestions from other chapters.

When I read about your theme, this is what popped in my head for OU tx week.

Schooner being pulled by sled dogs, a longhorn skull on the side of the road and the lead dog hiking a leg over it.

You know you've been away from Soonerfans quite a while when you just now realize that FrozenSooner is now Mike Rich.

Forget the sled dogs and eskimoes. The 'pokes already have that locked up.

I recommend going with something simple, distinctive and elegant like your state flag with the field in crimson and the stars in cream. You could even put the interlocking OU in the top left corner. It would be very cool.

I'm a photoshop igmo or I'd do it for you.

Good suggestion, Homey, and I'll pass it along. Everyone seemed pretty committed to the huskies pulling the Schooner, though.

We talked about the Eskimo Joe's deal and even considered having the Schooner running Joe over, but figured not enough people would get the joke-and a lot of people would take it the wrong way and think we were anti-Native or something.

Bear in mind, Huskies=Washington.

Now, polar bears? Just get permission from Coke and you're all set!

Yeah, I know, but huskies are ubiquitous enough up here that people aren't likely to make that kind of connection.

What about two moose pulling the wagon?

Frozen Sooner

That might work...

What about two moose pulling the wagon?

would they be happy cartoon-y mooses or mean-looking mooses?

Hm, wonder if I can get this turned into a contest on the Fark board?

Huskies aren't the favorite dog to pull sleds, most sled dogs aren't pure bred dogs.

Just sayin

While most sled dogs are indeed mixes, most mushers I've been around refer to their dogs as huskies regardless of breed.

Huskies are also the archetypical sled dog, much as Clydesdales are the archetypical draft horse.

All I know is Jeff King said that they are sled dogs not Huskies. Heard it with my own ears.

Just sayin

Heh.

Did you ask Jeff King why he calls his home Husky Homestead?

The term typically used is the "Alaskan Husky" which is not a recognized breed. An Alaskan Husky generally has some Siberian Husky, but they get pretty muddled.

Heck, there's even a dude who runs a dog team of Standard Poodles.

BoogercountySooner

He even said that people confuse sled dogs with huskies and that none of his dogs are the husky breed! I don't remember if he called his place the Huskey homestead I just know that none of his dog's were Huskies!

Just sayin so you can be authentic with your logo and all!:) :)

Booger-

I'm going to go into more detail by PM. We've got a linguistic confusion going on here that I think we need to clear up.
