On a scale of 1-10 with 1 being best of course, I just wondered what is your honest opinion of his work as gov....i'll start and give him a 6.

I would say a 6.7. If he would get rid of Linda Campell, the corrupt director of the OK dental board, I would give him an 11 and a hug and a kiss, and some of my home made sand plum jelly. :D

Well, I guess higher than I thought I would. He hasn't done a whole hell of a lot, and frankly, I don't mind that at all.

The proliferation of casinos really bothers me, as does the inability to get the roads and bridges fixed, HOWEVER, the budget is balanced, we have a healthy rainy day fund and the economy is doing well.

I see no reason to vote against the man. He seems like a good guy.

I gotta give it up to you for this unbiased assessment.

My opinion of him is largely based on the fact that every time I drive through my home state now, I'm confronted with a deluge of horrible looking casinos. I really hate that.

Why is 1 the best?

Great.

Now that "Brad Henry, Brad Henry..." song is stuck in my head!

If a '1' is best, then chalk me down for a '9'.

I'll give him a 7. Kind of like the Eisenhower administration, lets things rock along and doesn't stir things up too much. That is normally government at its best.

Bah.

He gets points for signing the B Plan variant 'DROPBAC' into law and points for layin' off the state pensions.

He gets boos and hisses for the casino debauchery, the tobacco tax (which takes money out of the municipal coffers where it's needed from sales tax), a practically non-existent stance on pushing the unified 800 MHz communication system to first responders statewide putting the onus on the local agencies, a craptacular effort in state backing of OSU-FST, and to be expected, no meaningful efforts in pushing the legislature toward income tax and tort reform.

That, along with a bunch of other issues I'm sure other folks can come up with is what 'not doin' a whole hell of a lot' will get you. Not a whole hell of a lot gets done.

And on a side note, isn't it state constitutionally mandated that we HAVE to have a balanced budget every year?

Dang it. I forgot my rating.

7, flirtin' with a 5 if he manages to keep the legislature from piratin' and privatizin' the pension systems.

Does the Gov even have the authority to tell a tribe that they CAN'T build a casino somewhere?

I wouldn't think he could do anything about it but I don't know.

He actually has no say..but pushing 712 through allowed the State to at LEAST get some money from the Casino's. The Indian tribes are doing a better job making sure roadways and bridges are better than our state government...maybe we should elect the Indians governors!

That's what I don't get about the whole mess in the first place.

How in the hockeysticks did he sign a casino 'compact' with the tribes when it states clearly in Article I, Sec. 10 of the U.S. Constitution these very words?

"No state shall, without the consent of Congress... enter into any agreement or compact with another state, or with a foreign power"

Last time I checked, the tribes are considered autonomous. What'd we miss here?

You might want to check out 25 USC 2701-2721 otherwise known as the Indian Gambling Reform Act (IGRA)

He's a Wolf from Shawnee.

He's one year older than my older brother.

My older brother knows his wife.

Based on this criteria and this criteria alone,

He's the best Governor we've ever had.
