It was his eighth one. Four of the priors were felony DUIs. He 55 years old and will be eligible for parole in 15 years.

I guess some folks are either very slow learners or they refuse to learn from past mistakes.

I'll try to find the story. He said that he only drinks when he dances.

Clearly, he needs help with his dancing problem.

good.

one of the coaches at my high school lost his two daughters (3 years old, and one still in the tummy to be born as they were driving to the hospital), his mother and an aunt were also killed, and his wife paralyzed because of a drunk driver. the drunk dude was killed too. i guess justice came quickly.

i don't know if it was the guys 8th offense or 1st though. seems like a crapshoot to me.

He should have been put away before this.

Indeed. A LONG time before this.
IMO, first offense = week in jail, a big fine, license suspension - second offense = minimum 1 year in prison.

Not wanting to jack the thread, but how many of us have got behind the wheel when we knew we shouldn't? I wouldn't dream of it now, but as a young idiot, I know I made some poor decisions.

That said, this was his EIGHTH time to be caught. I doubt he did much sober driving at all. And yes, he should have lost his ability to legally drive after #2. The Dude's idea is a good one, provided he permanently lose his driving privileges after doing the time.
