Most beautiful melody ever. Shines through regardless of instrument or style. To be fair, this kid has some electronic help available to him that wasn't around in Hendrix's day. I would have loved to hear Chet Atkins take this one on.

The kid is quite talented, no doubt. HOWEVER - Hendrix made his music with a drummer, bass player, Fender Stratocaster, reverb bar and wah wah pedal. That's it. I saw Hendrix live in Norman and this kid has a loooong way to go to even approach the inimitable Jimi. Even without the sugar cube, there is a difference.

ESP's are smoove like butta.

for another version of P's canon get TSO's latest and listen to Al Pitrelli do it up. It's a little different in that it has hot chickage singing and such but it is still gude.

I've been sayin', Baroque and metal go hand in hand. :twinkies:

Very nice article.

Contrast:

"Classical/neo-classical/ legit" - hard work, complexity, technical brilliance, modesty

hip-hop/rap - simplicity, minimal technique, vulgarity, posing, arrogance

Do I not think hip-hop SUCCS ???

I DO.

I guess as a fellow guitar player, I don't see what the big deal is. Yeah the kid is good, but people have been playing that kind of stuff for decades.

Yngwie Malmsteen has been playing classical and sweep picking since he was ten. You wanna see something really unreal?

At the end of the show I was tired.

Meh. I've never thought Yngwie had much soul to him. Yeah, his stuff is technically incredible, but I can't get into it. I really love that style of music, though.

I think Yngwie playing with that orchestra might be one of the most boring things i have ever seen. maybe it was the music selected, but i couldnt watch more than a minute of it.
