I've been tipped off that there is a place in Okarche that does excellent fried chicken. Any ****** *******s on this board?

Is this place open on Sundays?

Pretty good but not worthy of a special trip. Have to be in the area. Not sure on Sun.

Folks. Half. Time.

Same chicken, onions, pickels, no white bread your upgraded to garlic toast. Cleaner place, colder beer, and lots of plasma TV's.

Then after filling your belly you can go give your money away to the Indians.

Well, it's being requested by someone else, but I will pass them the advice. I'd rather take your advice than my friend's, too, since you actually live in the area.

Jed, you better be talking about Okarche or else I am going to kick you in the shin real hard!

Okarche's chicken is way to salty for me.

I was talking about Okarche. I'm on record often saying that it sucks. Hard. KFC, Popeye's, even Church's is better. Seriously. People go there because they are in love with the idea of a road trip, and because they think it must taste good because everyone talks about going there to eat it.

Unfortunately, Barry's Chicken Ranch is gone. The King actually had some good chicken. Plus, they had molasses to put on your biscuits. The got extra points for that one.

Not so fast my friend.

Popeye's maybe, but KFC and Church's?? No way - Ask Czar about KFC.

Eischens is good, but as walkoff said, not worthy of a special trip.

I did like Barry's chikcen better. Better sides and biscuits as well (with the molasses or honey). Eischen's is great because its memories. My wife from Yukon enjoys going there, it is rural OK and the boots and trucks are good to look at. Good folk! Chicken is a bit salty, but the back bar (what's left of it) is H-I-S-T-O-R-Y!!! Only better back bar I've seen is in Eagle River Wisconsin!

I didn't say I liked KFC or Church's, only that it sucked less than that that salty chicken-in-a-plastic-shell crap that they crap out in Okarche.

Well, we'll differ there then. KFC and Church's suck more are far as I'm concerned. I think the Eischens chicken is good, but not great. You have to go there on the right day. When the grease is not too new, not too old. I'm still not sure what day that is though.

Barry's was OK. sort of assembly line CFS, but passable. the gravy was always too thin IMHO.

The bad things about Eischens is tri-fold:
1. Nowhere to sit.
2. Wait an hour to get your food after you finally sit.
3. It's way out in Okarche.

Half-time in Newcastle fixes all those problems. Available seating, quick service and it's not in Okarche.

My grandparents live out in Okarche, so I've been going there for a long time, and it is my favorite restaurant. To quote an earlier poster, to say anything else is blasphemy. It's an institution.

Anybody remember the JR Ranch that used to be on NW 10th and about Macarthur? Whenever I think of good fried chicken that always comes to mind. It was semi-classy: Honey butter for the biscuits and mashed taters & gravy. mmmmmm

not chicken bones.

They splinter and can cause problems in the digestive system.

I should neg you for deceptive namery.

They fall all over themselve to take care of me. It's so hectic I just shout out numbers and they know which one I mean.

Eischen's is extremely overrated....hell, my wife cooks a better yardbird. If you want to go on a road trip fine but don't go for the chicken.

I dig the Okarche chicken, but it's waaaay the hell out for me. In Tulsa, go for some Flyin' Roll chicken.

AQ is still the all-time bestest.

AQ?

AQ?
Stands for Arkansas Quality. It's been awhile since I've been, but get over to Springdale for some chicken.

Eischen's is OK but it's just chicken. For real fried chicken go to Chicken Annie's in SE (Frontenac) KS (Near Pittsburg). For good boneless chicken strips (or chicken fried steak) it's the Round-up Cafe in Weleetka or Nelsons in Okmulgee. I do have to agree that AQ was really good too.
