Actually, if memory serves correctly, Rhett was ranked something like 7th out of a high school class of 500 and did pretty well on the SAT. He also had over a 3.0 at OU (he received some sort of academic all-conference or similar award that required it). Coming out of high school, his academic numbers weren't stellar enough to get into Rice as a non-athlete, but they would have been good enough to get in as a recruited athlete. A few years ago, I saw a list of the average SAT scores for football players at D-1A schools, and Rice's average was near the top, but it was still "only" around 1200 (back when the scores were out of 1600), about 200 or more points below the average for all undergraduate students. Still, I have to wonder if Rice would be willing to take Bomar with his off the field baggage.

I don't know why Bomar would want to go to Rice, unless he truly wants a superior edumacation. With their team talent, he's likely to have a very porous OL, and risks getting clobbered.

Doesn't Rice U have the highest suicide rate for colleges/universities? Who will Jerry Bomar blame as Rhett continues his career suicide . . .

  :D

No way Rhett would go to Rice. They still run the wishbone.

Rice is introducing a new offense this year under new head coach Todd Graham. He brought in Major Applewhite as OC and they are putting in a spread-type of offense. Bomar would be a good fit for the new system, but I find it doubtful that he ends up there.

Although I'd like to steamroll Mr. Beerme again, I wouldn't wish that upon Applewhite.

Bomar takes a look at UH

Former Oklahoma quarterback Rhett Bomar, who was kicked off the team last week after it was revealed he violated NCAA rules, visited the University of Houston campus Tuesday, keeping open the chance he might transfer to the school next semester.

Bomar toured the facilities and met with UH head coach Art Briles. Should Bomar, a redshirt sophomore, commit to a Division I-A school, it is believed Houston would be a strong possibility. Bomar is also considering Division I-AA school Sam Houston State. If Bomar transfers to a Division I-A school, he must sit out a minimum of one season because of NCAA transfer rules. That does not include the possible suspension he faces from the NCAA.

The fans are about 50-50 on if it is a good idea or not.

I thought the jerk brought a large number of AP credits to OU - something like 18 or so. That impressed me. I would have expected an SAT score of 1400 or better (old test results), not a measely 1200.
The high school the jerk attended is so-so academically - but AP tests are the same everywhere.
