View Full Version : Inappropriate Gift For A Step Daughter?

VeeJay
8/24/2006, 03:49 PM
Bought my 27 y.o. step daughter living in CA, a gift certificate for Victoria's Secret. So she called to thank me and was laughing - saying "A gift from Victoria's Secret is not something you think you'd ever get from your dad."

Well, they have stuff besides X-rated panties and what not. I mean, there's all kinds of lotions, perfumes, pajamas - stuff that wimmins like. I figured - she's going to go in there and shop eventually - why not let her get something real nice for herself?

Was that too personal? I think not.

I'm a pervert and I really like hanging around the stores and watching what women are trying on. I usually find a good discreet place to

I bought my step daughter some crotchless panties and some porn movies when she turned seventeen. I think it's always best to keep it a secret and not let mom find out.

I think you made a fine purchase.

I had Mrs. VJ's blessing. Hell, I know she goes there - don't all women folk?

It ain't like she's expected to report back to me on what she buys.

Besides, at the end of the call she did say Thanks - you always get good gifts.

Nope. I met Mrs. VJ about a month before she started college, and she moved away. So we've never lived in a stepfather-stepdaughter arrangement - you know, under the same roof.

She's not bashful about saying what's on her mind. In fact, during the phone call after she thanked me, she was laughing about it and said she was going to go buy a bra and panties. That's actually more information than I needed.

I've actually received accolades from female co-workers and what not when they found out I've bought gift cards in there. A lot of guys wouldn't go in VS, or some I'm told. I don't care. I walk in there like I p3wn the joint.

hmm, Im surprised some see a problem with it. My daughter(my wife's step-daughter) gets VS gift cards from us on a regular basis. It's usually my wife's idea, and my daughter sure seems happy to get the gift.
Now my daughter is not a youngster by anymeans, having two teenaged sons in her life, but we have gotten her those gift certificates for quite a few years.
Fredricks????????? nah, I dont think I can equate sleezy sexy on the same level as classy sexy.
VeeJay, perhaps it's a Florida viewpoint.

I'm with JK on this one. I wouldn't even buy a VS gift card for a friend who was female. It just has a connotation to it.

I'd have gotten her a gift card to Nordstrom's or something.

VeeJay
8/24/2006, 08:32 PM
Here's the dealeo:

We sent one big mailing for her b'day. Mrs. VJ went online with some outfit in CA that sells certificates for Deep Sea Fishing outings - not cheap. That was her gift to her daughter. In there also was a card I got at Hallmark that was probably corny as hell, with the VS gift card in it. Our six year old did some typical six year old artwork and put it in the envelope.

I think OUinFLA gets it. Maybe it is a more casual environment down here.

The girl has a boyfriend - or did- I can't keep up. I just wanted her to have a good b'day and be able to buy something nice for herself. I like to BS around on here, but the truth is I love her like my own daughter and would do anything for her. We have a very good r'ship.

For one of the few times, I'm agreeing with JK here. ;) I didn't make it clear in my first post, but I think, like Froze said, there's a certain connotation to a VS gift card. Doesn't matter that there are a lot of other products available, the main thing they're known for is naughty undies... I wouldn't get a gift card to there for anyone I wasn't trying to/already had bed.

I suppose that's where we have a difference in opinion. I have gotten VS gift cards, like I said, for my sister, whom I fought with like cats and dogs growing up. 35 years later, we're all grown up living 1000 miles apart with our own families and it's her birthday.

If you're already bedding or trying to bed someone, why not invite them out to a nice dinner, then follow up a day or two later with a phone call, plan something for a few days later, and work it at that angle?

Been there, done that. Sometimes it works.

I don't think I ever bought a VS gift card for some gal I had my eye on, for the sole purpose of sending signals.

Gotta disagree with this . . . when I go in there I go in there for one reason and one reason only. To buy something for my wife that I know she'll like, that she'll wear and that frankly she looks dang good in.

It's a really sad situation when a man must rely on the VS catalog or store to get his fill of the female body.

jeezus, dont be so literal - your comment above proves the store isnt just about "functional underwear".....its about aesthetics.....men (most of us anyway) want our wives/girlfriends/hookers, etc to wear panties that appeal to us as well as them......THATS what the store is about

women (not all of them but ALOT) shop there because they know their husband/boyfriends/johns like the selection and how things look....

you can get nice looking functional underwear at dillards or penneys....but VS is a specialty store

Sooner_Bob
8/25/2006, 08:18 AM
Functional underwear can't be appealling? VS has a good product that lasts, why can't that be part of why people shop there?

Again, not knowing the relationship involved we can't really say what was/wasn't appropriate. The gift card IMO was quite alright. Why does everything have to come with a "hidden agenda" these days? Buying a female friend or even your step daughter a gift card doesn't always mean you wanna tap that.

I'm sure most men think a woman looks good in her underwear no matter where it's from . . . granny panties excluded.

After all that I've seen posted here I never dreamed this would be that big of a deal . . . it's a gift card to VS. It's not like he bought a self pleasuring device from some adult store.

What if the woman in your life for the vast majority of time doesn't even wear panties? THEN what?

Now, back on point a bit... she's 27.. and living in California?.. if she has been out there for awhile, VS is going to seem pretty tame. In fact, she may be used to the higher quality more prevalent at La Perla or Agent Provacateur.

If she was born, raised and still lives in the vast majority of the "fly over" part of the nation, it may have raised a few eyebrows.

Long and the short.. no big deal it sounds like.

Then again.. I may not be the best person to chime in on this topic. :O

right, as evidenced by her comment "its not something i thought i'd get from my dad" jk

If she said that with a frown, I'd agree. Didn't sound like that was the case (??)

Most women don't have the appendage where men's brains are located.

It explains a lot.

you do realize that showing your wife posts like this won't increase your chance to get temporary relief from your condition of lackonooki disease, right?

I totally agree. And would be different if she was 17, etc. but a 27-yo woman?? She probably thought it was a very cool gift.
IMO, it's not the age, but the age difference that matters to people in this case. It's the roles of the people we're talking about. A kid will always be a kid, and a parent will always be a parent, no matter how old the parties are.

I wouldn't have done it--even the thought embarrasses me. But I know I'm a prude. I pretty much don't publicly acknowledge the sexuality of women other than my wife.

Gotta disagree with this . . . when I go in there I go in there for one reason and one reason only. To buy something for my wife that I know she'll like, that she'll wear and that frankly she looks dang good in.

Pics? :texan:

Heh, maybe if I hadn't been so distracted, I wouldn't have been kicked out of the cup in the second round on Wednesday.

heh for me this season watching your team is going to be more interesting than even managing mine. I should go undefeated this season and autopromote back in to Division IV. I figure I'll out-hatstats everyone by an average of 50-60 each game.

you check out the new inflated confidence? I've been sitting at extremely exaggerated for two weeks now :(

That sucks. At least you'll be kicking real live humans instead of bot teams.

Yeah, I've seen the confidence thing. I was on a roll after winning my series last season, but now I'm at "decent," thanks to the cupset.

If it was CLEARLY appropriate......the question would not have been posed.

So giving someone a VS gift card is publicly acknowledging their sexuality?

Would giving her a gift card to Omaha steaks mean she was a heifer?
