Texas State turns down Bomar

Bobcats coach says team already has 'great chemistry'

SAN MARCOS — Banished Oklahoma football players Rhett Bomar and J.D. Quinn approached Texas State about possibly transferring to the Division I-AA school but were turned down, Bobcats coach David Bailiff said Wednesday.

...

"They're great kids who just got some bad advice," Bailiff said. "It was a crime of stupidity. It just came down to the fact that we have such great chemistry here."

Apparently, unlike Alex Rogan, you CAN'T go to State with your friends this fall, Bomar.

(anybody get the reference?)

Bomar's too much of a party amateur to go to Texas State. They throw down like champions without getting busted.

And what's up with this bad advice again?

soonerlaw

The bad advice was probably that someone RB and JD that Texas State would want those two.

Smart coach.

O'course he's smart. All of we San Antonio MacArthur alums are smart (and good-lookin', witty, brave, clean, trustworthy, loyal, courteous, and...natch...reverent!)

Gotta love this Brahma's jersey number!

I wouldn't think Bomar would want to play for a coach named Bailiff.

Remember that "Bailiff" line from the Cheech and/or Chong courtroom skit?
Y'know, when Judge Gladys Dax pronounces sentence on one Lesley Horwinkel for repeatedly having sex with underage girls.
His defense: Insanity; "I'm crazy 'bout that stuff!"
Anyone remember what Judge Gladys said?

Although it would have been funny for the I-AA Bobcats in San Marcos to be able to claim they had a better quarterback than the big bad Longhorns 30 miles north in Austin.

They probably do anyways!

Actually, Bomar coming to Texas is a good idea. Think about it--Texas needs a QB, and Bomar has a year under his belt. Plus, he would probably play with great motivation during the RRS.

Heh, assuming that scenario does happen, it's good news/bad news time:

Good News: You get to play in Division I again on a top tier team.
Bad News: October.

Motivation doesn't mean much if you're on the bench with a concussion.

Has He Who Shall Not be Named been released to play at another school? If not, isn't this a bit of a futile exercise, or are they expecting a pass from the Communists?

It was actually closer to 5-7K. If it were that much ($18K), he probably wouldn't have done it because that would have been too smart.

That fact that he received any money at all (rather than just an arrest, citation, and more public humiliation for himself and the program) was actually a step in the right direction . . .;)
