Hi everyone,

This is StoopTroup's wife, and it is 3:30 am on 8/24. I just returned from a six hour visit to Tulsa Regional, where I checked in ST. You see, he is having twins! I think it is about time, since I bore him two children already...lol!

A medical miracle, you say? No, just dual kidney stones, one in each kidney. He is in a LOT of pain, and he asked that I post this for him so that all the Sooner fans could say a quick prayer for him that he would be up and recup'd by....oh, what date shall we pull out of our hat? September 2nd will do! Maybe even earlier would be better.

I know he considers everyone on this board as family, so thank you in advance for your prayers.

Sincerely,
Mrs. StoopTroup
aka "Orange-Red Sooner"

I'm sure he'll be fine. Maybe he'll have the two stones made into attractive kidney stone stud earrings for you for Christmas.

In the meantime and after this is over, make that boy start drinking more water. I believe those stones tend to form more frequently when folks don't stay properly hydrated.

BTW, why TRMC? ST isn't homeless is he?;)

You know, somtimes they can break those things apart with ultrasound and make them much easier to pass.

Ditto on the water, and if he tends to drink a LOT of tea, or coffee, or soda, have him cut back on that. My dad's been through this a few times.

I used to have several physician clients at TRMC. I always told them that, if I had a medical emergency during one of our meetings to please call an ambulance.

I once heard an old quote from a soldier who had served in Korea... He stated that he had been shot twice, and had two different kidney stone attacks... He said that if given the choice, he would gladly offer to be shot again...

Having had four kidney stones myself over the years, with the most recent one back in May, he has got my prayers!!

The best part is if you get to have a stent for a week...
You haven't felt uncomfortable until you go through that...

Positive thoughts for very small stones.

Years ago, one of our docs had a bad time with kidney stones. After several days of hospitalization, he came back to work to find a large rock (lots of sharp edges of course) on his desk. He didn't think it was funny that we put his name on it..

Add my prayers for your comfort and smooth passage.

But.............let this be a lesson to you for partaking in all the kidney giving and taking that took place last year. Next time get medical references before you accept a kidney from anyone on SO.

Lithotripsy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lithotripsy)

The passage of stone fragments may take a few days or a week and may cause mild pain. In order to dislodge fragments of the stone and carry them out of the kidney, patients may be subjected to repeated vigorous blows to the kidney while in a head-downward position for a week after the procedure, as well as instructed to drink as much water as is practical.
