View Full Version : How long have you worked at your current job?

This is not a slight to anyone that may be looking for or moving to new employment but I'm just curious as to how long most of us have been at our current jobs. Some folks can move up pretty quickly in their career by changing jobs frequently some maybe not.

I've been working at the same company for over 13 years and I've stayed here because I really like what I'm doing and I have a great boss and great owners. So I pretty much think I will retire here.

I'm just curious.

You're assuming anyone here is "working" at their current job.

Over 5 years now, and I won't leave until my boss leaves. He's my mentor in more than just my professional career. I'm pretty much Timothy to his Paul.

19.5 years. First 2 years wiped out do to buy out or it would be 21.5 years. been asked to move up a couple of times, but did not want to relocate while the kids where going to school. Kids are grown ( not gone, they came back) so I thought I would be interested. Now the wife goes and gets promoted, So I guess I am going to have to stay where I am for now.

I worked 24 years for the same company...then retired at 45 with full benefits, about 65% of my pre-retirement salary, 60% of which is tax-free.

Now, I'm starting career #2.

The military is cool like that.;)

It will be six years in November, the most I've worked at any place since college in a career that has spanned three states.

Geekboy

33 years. Yes......33.

It was supposed to be just a summer job starting out. I missed my last year in college. I needed like 30 hours to graduate. I never went back.

People kept quitting ahead of me and I kept getting promoted.

I know.........it's disgusting.

The biggest problem with having 30 years is the fact I am 30 years older. :(

First company - 4 years
Second company - 10 years
Third company - 18 years
Fourth company - 6 years
Current company - three weeks

The irony is that the company I work for now bought companies 2 and 3 in the past 5 years. So I have about 28 years of experience toward this job I've held for three weeks.

4 years, since finishing residency.
Worked at Baptist in the burn center for 4 years.
Other jobs were only summer-type things. How's that for slacking off most of your life in school without holding down a real job? :D
