We need a qb like the former Kentucky qb. I seen him play on tv the other night. He is 4th string or so. 280#' s and not any of it is muscle. He was cracking up everyone on the sidelines... Even his teammates. He sure could throw good.

Got me thinking. We have 3 really good TE's and they're all big. Lets use 2 of them and Peterson and bring the wishbone back.

It could work.

I've always wondered why they don't just put a really really fat guy in the hockey goal. I mean, that could work.

Dear astrohorn,
The wishbone didn't employ two tight ends, at least not the one Barry ran. Surely you remember Austin's own Billy Brooks...and Tinker Owens...and Steve Rhodes...etc., etc., etc.

Sincerely,

P.S. - Stupid.

I understand that they didnt use two tight ends. I was merely employing that we use one as qb - one as weak side hb - and peterson. Just hand the ball to ad and let him run.

In fairness to Lorenzen (aka "The Pillsbury Throw Boy") he wasn't that bad, it was that the rest of his college team sucked.

I watched one game where UK was playing Arkie that went to OT. UK had been way behind, and fans were leaving. Lorenzen was yelling at them to come back - said they'd miss a helluva game, and he was right. I think the game went to triple OT and Lorenzen was awesome that day.

But in the end, I want someone that has a little more mobility, not just a QB that the defense can't tell from an O-Lineman.

those UK games were pretty fun to watch

If you had a 6'0 QB but he could run a legit 4.4 would you play him? I mean a Q-Back that threw for 4000 yards and 40 TDs while also rushing for 1000 yds on his way to winning player of the year award and a state championship in the most competitive state? Would that be something you might be interested in? Well,, he is on your team.....the question is....has he been taking snaps????

actually im pretty sure that game went 6 or 7 OT and was one of the longest in history

While the Bone is seriously effective when used, it burns precious time. You can't afford to play a game against, say T TECH burning 6 minutes or more of game time trying to score or get a field goal when they can score in 1:30 or less. It's nice to utilize these old styles just to change things up every now and then, but a 50/50 pass-run attack is the best attack in modern college ball. Even the King has noted this...

Maybe get some snaps for MJ when this season is over. I didn't realize he was that good at QB.

His offense in high school was the "NO HUDDLE" spread option attack. Combine our "O" with the "K Gun" from the Jim Kelly Buffalo Bills. Could be a dangerous combination at the college level. No allowing a defense to huddle. Reading the defense and picking away at the mismatch on every play.. Simple and effective.

Uhm, well, sure - I don't see why we wouldn't give him a look-see at QB.

After all, our starting QB made a *great* wideout. Maybe one of our wideouts would make a great QB?

Weren't those stats career numbers for him, though? For a great high school quarterback, don't the career stats usually approach video-game levels?

Looks like that was his senior year. Now I'm wondering why we don't have him in the QB picture.

As long as we're talking about fantasy solutions for our QB situation, how about Nic Harris. Dude is 6'3" 230 and runs a 4.5 or better. Somebody teach this kid how to throw!

(I realize this is idiotic, and is PURE fantasy. MJ has probably hit the radar for the coaching staff.)

On another note, let's not forget that we already have ONE quarterback recruit signed up for 2007 . . . and he ain't that shabby . . . Austin Box. Watch the reels, fellas. Dude can play.
