They're supposed to be updating the look of the horepigs, so they don't look as horsepiggish. God only knows what that means. I heard Denver's mascot was an inspiration, which would make them looking something like horsepigdolphins. Ugh.

As I posted before, I did a search for horse mascots, and discovered that there is no such thing as a good horse mascot costume. They all look either gay (NTTAWWT), like an alligator, or like a pig. Or like a man-bear-pig, if classified by Al Gore on South Park.

NORMAN, Okla. -- The Big Red Rally, the annual kickoff event for University of Oklahoma students, is set for Thursday, Aug. 24.

Fans will be allowed to enter Gate 1 of Gaylord Family - Oklahoma Memorial Stadium at 5 p.m. for the event. Seating is available in the west side stands only. The OU football team will hold a brief scrimmage on Owen Field prior to the event which starts at 6:15 p.m.

Festivities include a sneak preview of the 2006 team intro video for the UAB game on the stadium video board, performances by the Pride of Oklahoma and Sooner spirit squads plus remarks from OU head coach Bob Stoops and team captains. Video cameras will not be permitted inside the stadium, however, point and click cameras are acceptable.

At 7:15 p.m., the Little Red Rally, an event aimed at children, begins on the Brooks Mall north of the stadium.

Oklahoma kicks off its 112th season of intercollegiate football on Saturday, Sept. 2, against UAB in Norman. The game is slated for 6 p.m. and will be televised by TBS.
