One of the best movies that I have seen this year.

Hillarious. I highly suggest checking it out if you like to laugh.

I'd be cooler if there were snakes on the van. ;)

I want to see it, but it'll have to wait. It's a little too highbrow to fit in the Snakes On A Plane, Beerfest, Crank mode I'm in now. :D

Saw it Saturday, and laughed my *** off. I've been waiting on it to come out for a while and was not disappointed.

I can do what I want!!! I still have nazi bullets in my head!!!

'I'm madly in love with you and it has nothing to do with your brains or your personality!'

Alan Arkin definitely got most of the great lines. The acting was good all around, but Steve Carell was especially impressive in a very subdued part.

And the pageant. Holy crap. Spectacular.

It just came out. As of last weekend it's only showing at Quail in the city.

OK, I've been wanting to see it because Steve Carell is in it, but this weekend I saw an interview with the directors and they just happened to direct some (if not all - they didn't give details) of the outpost.com commercials. Those commercials are my all time favorite commercials. I wish I had went out of my way to see it this past weekend.

And if you missed them...

Quail Springs? dang

It was very good. However, the fact that the trailer uses a Flaming Lips song that appears nowhere in the movie soured me a little. I call that false advertising. I went to the movie just to hear the song, and no dice. I had to settle for merely a cute, well acted, quirky movie with a good screenplay.

Little known fact about me: I have a huge crush on Toni Collette. I think she's totally hawt.

Oh, and I'd like to dedicate this to my grandpa, who taught me all of my moves.

I bought it. I like it a lot, but I was a little let down since everyone built it up so much.

It was one of those that I felt like I should like, but I didn't think it was funny at all. I mean it had its moments, but all in all it didn't do it for me.

So much for Indie street cred.

they showed this on the plane when i was flying back from Oklahoma over thanksgiving. the overall consensus on the plane was...

"That is the worst movie ever made."

someone shouted that out, and everyone else agreed.

maybe we were just tired from too much family interaction and turkey.

When the kid found out about "you know" and freaked in the van...

I about lost it.

Not a great movie...but definitely a classic.

I loved it.

***POSSIBLE SPOILER***

One of my favorite lines was after they get the girl all signed up. The dad kinda breathes a sigh of relief and then asks the guy "So, you got any funeral homes around here?"

I've watched it 3 times now. Catch alot of little character things the 2nd a 3rd times around.

Is he like this all the time?

(Nods)

How can you stand it?

:D

proud gonzo
2/3/2007, 11:35 PM
in the script he writes "I can't" on his notepad :D

there are a few awesome lines that are in the script and got cut out in the final product because they would have slowed down the pace

colleyvillesooner
2/3/2007, 11:40 PM
Yeah, that would've taken away from the fact that he's a guest in their house, commenting on "how can you stand it", while the guy is still going on about the 9 steps. :D

I gotta side with the, "it's pretty good, but it doesn't knock my socks off" crowd.

Just watched it last night. It has some great scenes. But wall to wall it was just pretty good. I liked the mix, but it took a while for things to get rolling.

I was entertained for like three times during my December holiday flights. There are much better new movies out there, in my opinion. With that being said, I'd watch the thing again, particularly the beauty pagent scene, which just cracks me up.

Here's my take on the film for people that are ragging on it. It's one of those movies that is a pleasant surprise, so to speak. Although, you expect greatness from most of the cast. If you go into into it expecting a raucous film that's hilarious, you will be disappointed, there's too much subtext in the movie. It's sorta like Rushmore, IMO. Don't expect the funnest best movie evar and you will enjoy it greatly.

yermom
2/4/2007, 02:13 PM
yeah, it's not Anchorman or anything :D

sanantoniosooner
2/4/2007, 02:24 PM
Is it ragging on it to say it was pretty good but not awesome?

sooneron
2/4/2007, 02:24 PM
nope

Chuck Bao
2/4/2007, 02:33 PM
Wouldn't everyone pick up on the subtext immediately? Okay, I watched it three times in a row on an airplane, so maybe it was just a little too obvious for me.

As an alternative, I really like "The Big White" I saw on HBO yesterday. That got me laughing more. And, I was like wondering if the Giovanni Ribisi insurance claims character was actually based on Froze. Holly Hunter was sooo funny, anyway.
