With rising gas prices my parents have decided they need more fuel efficent vehicles. So they have purchased a 1979 Delta 88 with a 305 and 1978 Bonneville with a 305. Am I the only one who finds this as odd? Wouldn't make more sense not get V-8 powered boats? I mean it, sure they get better gas mileage than the 454 and 350 powered ancient Suburban's they had been tooling around in, but still.

Yes, they should have been looking at cars about 3 years old with V6 engines if they want good gas mileage.

Unless they are 4bbl carbs and they close off the secondaries. Might lack oomph but not entirely succ.

do they know engines are made below a v-8?

hey, my 4 doesn't have any "power"... but i'm spending 1/2 at the pump compared to what i did a year ago. i loved the silverado, but it wasn't worth $350 a month in gas.
