It brings a smidgen (sp?) of credibility to osu by allowing them to be a part of a game with a title. They have no legitimacy and never will. They are an annoyance.

Playing them is a lose/lose situation: You win, you're supposed to...big whoop. You lose, all heck breaks loose and the state turns "I just broke out of county" orange.

Mmmmm....that pretty much sums it up for me.

Call it the OU/osu game. Like the OU/Baylor, OU/Iowa State, OU/Kansas, etc, etc. 'Cus that's all it is.

You talking about football only? I still think it is more than those other games, even in football. But you can't tell me that the hoops and baseball games don't come with more emotion than they normally would. They are an in state rival, even though in football our overall record speaks for itself. I don't think anybody ever said a rivalry has to be "competitive".


And, you're in Dallas and don't have to deal with it as much.

I spent 24-25 years of my life in Oklahoma, trust me, I've dealt with it plenty. I also have to deal with ut fans down here, but I don't have a problem with the RRS title.


I understand your point Boarder, I really do, especially in regards to football. But that title is also applied to basketball and baseball, and I have to say, it fits those two sports extremely well.

I have more of a problem with the Big 12 forcing us to play osu on Thanksgiving weekend then I do with the title. Talk about giving a bad team credibility or something to play for.

If you give them an inch, they take a mile. If the game has a title it MUST be legit, right? Therefore, let's move it to a prominant date. We have to since it's such a big rivalry!

You really never heard it too much (you heard it some, but not FREAKING EVERYWHERE!) before John Blake arrived and the football team actually lost to them.

That's when it really went all to pot. Blake set the whole thing back 20 years. And then, the '01 and '02 crap set it back another 20. It'll take (umm, carry the 1...) a bunch of time to get it back to where they know thier place in the world.

And, even in basketball and baseball, it's the same thing to me. I don't care any more when OU wins over them than say, Kansas. But when they lose, you have to hear and see so much orange crap it's mind boggling. That is of course until OU beats them at something and the orange goes back into the closet.

It's waaay worse now than it has ever been. Thankfully, Norman hasn't been fully overrun by them. Edmond is lost, I'm afraid.
