So, this Karr guy is innocent? He was only on the run in an effort to find the real killer...a one-armed penquin? Uhhhh, make that a "one-flippered" penguin.
Sorry for any inconvenience or misunderstanding.

I'm always prone to skepticism... I'm a confirmed skeptic now. He could just be one of those obsessed glory seekers. His ex-wife has already given him a concrete alibi stating he was with her that night in Alabama...

Hmmmmm....

Kudos to the DA for not just taking this and running with it... After 10 years of failure, you'd think they'd take anything and head straight to trial.

If this is a hoax, they need to go ahead and lock him up anyways for being a sicko. I'm sure there's a crime there somewhere (other than the one they charged the bug eyed wedding bailer with).

Looking at the case again, it's still amazing to me that all of this happened within the family home without them knowing about it or the girl screaming.

I hope this is the guy... but looking at the facts on this guy, it's looking very questionable right now.

right, because she's dead

my understanding is that the girl was beaten pretty badly - doesnt sound like an "accident" to me

just way too many questions about this confession

King Crimson

the parents didn't do it (they've been cleared by DNA evidence and virtually all but ruled out by handwriting experts). she was strangled with a homemade garotte and killed by a brutal head blow. and apparently was originally to be kidnapped based on the presence of a large suitcase found in the cellar, prior to the headblow. she was not drugged, but tasered.

this is essentially the theory the Boulder DA is working with--though they had very little to do with it's development...nor did 48 hours. the credit goes to a murder invesitgator from Co. Springs: Lou Smit.

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2004/12/16/48hours/main661569.shtml

whether the Thailand guy is the guy or not, i don't know. but it's pretty much accepted that the Helgoth guy had something to do with it.

The one thing i haven't seen anywhere is why was this guy in Colorado when i thought he lived in Georgia at the time of the murders? Anyone?

Gandalf_The_Grey

Let's see...he was a murderious, child predator, crazy and unstable sob....my guess would be he is a fan of the Buffalo's

That Helgoth story is very interesting... I'm officially tweaked out about this entire case again. I hate it and wish it would go away. As a father to a daughter, it makes me angry.

Ok, I will REPOST this from the other thread:

There are some things about this situation that just don't seem to fit.

For example:

Karr’s ex-wife, Lara Karr, was quoted by KGO-TV in California that she was with her former husband in Alabama at the time of JonBenet’s killing and she does not believe he was involved in the homicide.

And

Lt. Gen. Suwat Tumrongsiskul, head of Thailand’s immigration police, said by telephone that he was told Karr claimed he had drugged the child and had sex with her.

However

An autopsy on Ramsey said a blood screening showed no drugs or alcohol in her body, which had a 1 centimeter area of vaginal abrasion. Searches initially showed that there was semen on JonBenet’s body but further examinations conducted by the Colorado Bureau of Investigation revealed there was none.

I'm wondering if this guy is just sick and is guilty of other crimes but has convinced himself that he was involved. I have the suspecion that there is a lot more about this situation.

Just something I noticed -- who would ask for $118,000 in ransom? Why not $100K or $120K? or $117,995?

Sometimes confessions aren't all that.

keep in mind that 118K was the EXACT amount of Mr Ramsey's christmas bonus

BOULDER, Colo. - The prosecutor in the JonBenet Ramsey slaying urged the public not to "jump to conclusions" Thursday, hours after an expatriate school teacher in custody in Thailand claimed he accidentally killed the girl a decade ago.

It's been a decade since that happened?

Wow...time flies by.

Maybe that was the precise balance on his mortgage.;)

Anyway, I think the whole thing was a ploy to seek extradition to the US. Thai prisons aren't pleasant. That is where he was headed before this "confession."

8/17/2006, 06:46 PM
True...the joke is that the media makes a big deal about some pretty little blonde girl with blue eyes. How many children are missing in this country, If they dedicated even 1 billionth of the time they have spent on JonBenet on helping finding kids that are alive and can still be helped and they saved even only 1 life...they wouldn't be a joke in my book. It's hard to feel even more sad just because they televised this one.

I can see why they are. Think about how huge this case was back in the day. Now they think they've got the guy, so the whirlwind just stirs up again. It's easy for them b/c they already have plenty of notes and footage.

wierd case, indeed.

one issue i have with the usual information presented by the press is the conventional wisdom that mr. gary glitter wannabee wants to avoid thai prison - i'm not up to speed on thai prisons, but have heard that US prisoners are not terribly welcoming of pedophiles (one rationale is that prisoners themselves had been abused by pedo's in their formative years).

guess the dude is pretty much butt f'ed no matter what he does

Who said that Karr was going to be arrested for something he did in Thailand?

Bangkok newspapers only mentioned that he was fired from a school two weeks ago for scaring the children.

Freak, indeed.

Forgot to add:

Somebody was trying to sell a ransom note written by this nutjob at the foreign correspondence club last night.

It may not be real. But if it is, I wonder if he was just practicing and why it wasn't gathered for evidence.

How much do you think a Karr ransom note would sell for on ebay?
