"Pursuant to the introduction of this new six-axis sensing system, the vibration feature that is currently available on DUALSHOCK and DUALSHOCK 2 controllers for PlayStation and PlayStation 2, will be removed from the new PS3 controller as vibration itself interferes with information detected by the sensor," reads the press release.

Seems like they are dragging their feet so long on the console that they could have figured it out.

Oh, and by the way, the PS3 won't play PSone or PS2 games unless you buy an adapter that is estimated to cost between $99 & $250.

No, the adapter is necessary only IF you wanna use your old PS / PS2 Memory Card. You can still play PS and PS2 on PS3, but you gotta start over the games from the beginning. With the adapter, you can continue at whatever point you were at using PS2 mem card.
