OK, so here's the thing: Over the next week or two I'm going to be fiddling around attempting to figure out how to build a website. I'll be doing this because the OU Symphony's website succs.
Exhibit A: http://www.ou.edu/ousymphony/
Functional, but ugly and badly laid-out. Done for free by a student.
My question: Anyone want to help me out and design some sort of small-ish logo I can use for the University of Oklahoma Symphony Orchestra? I mean, something maybe a bit more refined than an interlocking OU and text? I can probably figure out building the website, but I don't have any graphics editing programs or the time to learn how to use those too. I can't pay anything, but I'd be happy to credit the designer on the website.
Just so you know, I'm probably going to use a color scheme more along the lines of the Vienna Philharmonic.

Except, you know, without the orange. ;) (Holy crap I hate the black background w/ white text thing we're using now.) I like Vienna's layout, but it's probably a little more advanced than I want to try to code. If I can get some kind of integrated calendar to one side like they have I will consider myself a mad-crazy genius.

Ok, I took it seriously. Feel free to pay me about a bajillion dollars for this:
I've got a much more high res edition if you want and we can twink around with any of the colours like the background, etc. I'm not sure I nailed the brass color of the OU so we can mess with that too.
It should scale down well to whatever you want to use it for.

plus, it acknowledges and celebrates the strings as the heart and soul of an orchestra, without them, it would be merely an oompah band. Not to be left out, the brasses get their due too in the brass "OU"
so its all good.
It would be perfect if there was some small homage to the woodwinds...but that might make it too "busy" which is to avoided at all costs in logos. Perhaps a silver flute underlining the word "symphony?"
Dude... Beano is scoreboarding EVERYBODY with his master photoshop skills. Homeboy is truly an artist and not your average farker. Master spek to you, good sir.
Pride, this is your logo. Submit it and use it.
