I haven't heard it. Is the remake about High School teachers doing 14 year old boys?

there was one that was a "new" or "bonus" track on a Police greatest hits from about 10-15 years ago.....is that the one? because that one does suck.

william_brasky

no, this one's by some new "active" rock band. think blink 182 meets nickleback.

sucks so bad.

the bonus track on the Greatest sucked too, I agree.

Try 20 years ago. Let me make this clear: the REMAKE is 20 years old. This year. That should make you feel good and old.

And yes, it did suck.

In fact, the song's title is Don't Stand So Close To Me '86. Enjoy your old-agedness.

Me too. Of course, you can guarantee that we'll all be subjected to it from everywhere. You can also guarantee that 99% of all kids rocking out to it will think that it's an original song. Alas, that is the world in which we live.

I never liked the original. In fact, the only Police song I ever thought was excellent, was "Roxanne". (although I do like Sting's voice)

Well, you'll notice I did say I liked "just about" everybody on his list. I will say that even though they're schlocky, there will always be a soft spot in my heart for Styx, the first band I ever paid to see in concert.

i was on a tour and one of the stops was outside Sting's house.

I overheard one little boy ask another little boy who Sting was....to which the second little boy responded, "you know that guy that sings that song with P-Diddy." (every breath you take remake sang at the mtv awards in memory of biggie)

I wept.

and then killed them.

The Police are three of the most talented musicians to ever play in a band together. Ever.

You can say you don't like their style or their music but to say 'they succ' just makes you look... dumb .

Is it fair to say that 99.7% of them suck then?

in the pop/rock genre:

stew copeland: great, very nimble rock drummer with a killer snare sound. great musical family...incredible really.

andy summers: was in the Animals with Eric Burden. was about 40 when he was in the Police.

sting was a very good bass player, and remains a true master of hubris and faithful devotee to the idea that (to paraphrase Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden) "he's the only person on planet earth who ever read a book".

but, (deserved--two syllables) kidding aside, they were great.

murder by numbers.

outlandos and zenyatta mondatta are great records.

Copeland's also kicking some serious a$$ in movie scores.

And that's the kind of stuff people just don't hear about.

i also liked his solo record the Rhythmatist, back inna day. and he played in that thing with Les Claypool and the Trey Anastasio from Phish. though i could care less about Phish, and Primus was/is a one trick pony. still.

They did not want Geddy Lee giving an acceptance speech.
