Help me pick a decent pair of sneaker-y type shoes. I don't know why 95% of the shous out there look like crap now. Anyway, here are kind of my leading candidates.

#1
http://www.zappos.com/images/720/7206751/827-206266-d.jpg
Not bad, but I'm not much for really dark sneakers.

#3

I like the way these fit, but I'm not a huge fan of the suede. Then again, the non-suede versions don't look this good.

OU colors. Hm. Never heard of the company.

Again, never heard of the company, but the style is called "Yoda". :D

The ones I was really looking at aren't available in the only color that isn't hideous:

Sadly, those Eccos are 30% off right now, but they only have my size in some icky olive green.

2 or 4

the first ones are my least favorites, so i'm sure you'll get those. :P

1: Leggos
2: Mall Walker
3: Wal Mart
4: Bowling

6: Orange

You think these are ugly, you should see some of the rest. Apparently "normal" sneakers are uncool, and I can't stand neon colors and giant rubber things all over the shoes.

#4 or those last one's, if you can find them in a non-olive green color.

I do much better with dress shoes. Alden's or Allen Edmonds seem to do just fine for me. And you only have to buy them once if you take care of them.

Go with #2 or whichever are the most comfortable or cheapest.

Get the adidas. Multi-functional. You can wear those with blue jeans or light khakis.

Man I'm glad to see other people buying stuff at Charles Tyrwhytt. Great clothes there. Well made.

But for dress/casual shoes?

http://www.allenedmonds.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/AllenEdmonds/images/database/Ashton_display.gif

There is no substitute.

Unless you want to go Bruno Magli. Which can be problematic if you're planning on leaving a bloody footprint.

I like my Mezlans - arguably the best $200 I ever spent. I just need a brown pair now. They're sort of like this but without the stuff on the toe:

http://www.zappos.com/images/724/7245345/3034-267761-d.jpg

the more I look at those options the less crazy I am about any of them. I may just say "screw you, sneakers!" for a while.

North Face has these new trail runners without laces. You just twist the little twisty knob on the heel to tighten and loosen. I'm gonna git me some.

Bill?
grody weird person named Bill who wears shoes that look like that....when he actually wears shoes. Usually he walks around with bare hairy hobbit feet.

i just wondered since I don't think he owns more than the one pair of shoes...only his are black and REALLY old.
