I know how you feel man . . . I felt helpless when mom told me about her cancer. She's doing great now.

Keep your head up and we'll say a few prayers for you and your Pops.

Homer is right - there's a lot that can be done for prostate cancer. Think positive. :)

Hang in there. Depending on the circumstances, it isn't always an automatic death sentence. If they are meeting to discuss options, he probably does HAVE options, so that's a good thing.

High hopes for your pop.

You and your family are in my prayers.
My mom was diagnosed with lung cancer in 1999. She died in 2001.

Shortly after her death is when Dad told us he had been diagnosed with prostate cancer. He didn't want us or Mom to worry. Now, 5 years later, he is doing fine. The doctor says he is in great shape for a man of 75. He will be 89 in October.

Do not panic. Prostate cancer is one of the very treatable forms of cancer. Do not panic. Prayers from the people on this board have been shown to be very powerful.

we just found out last week that my dad has prostate cancer as well. he had his bone and cat scan last friday, now we're just waiting on those results, should know whats up by tomorrow. the one constant that i keep hearing is that prostate cancer is the easiest to cure.

i know its hard but stay positive, there are many different types of treatments nowadays. i'll be prayin for your family

There is a good side to this, though. PC is one of the most treatable forms of cancer, and most old timers that have it, aren't even aware of it. My Grandpa has had it for a couple of years, and the Doctors told him he would end up dying of natural causes before this would get to him.

I just talked to dad this morning, his doctor is suggesting using radiation and hormone therapy to kill the cancer.
He said the doctor told him that with his heart condition that, removal may be risky and that implanting the radiation(seeds)at the source are not an option.
there are areas that are larger and would not respond to this sort of treatment.

I tell ya, he asked about a place online where he could read more into it..WebMd is one of the greatest tools a person could read and research material like this. Bravo to those who created it!

Bud,

One of the producers at nbc is relaying his experiences with prostate cancer in a series.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/14192194/

Its probably more moral support than medical info.
