I am just curious as to who has the better air force located in the Middle East. Us or the Israelies?

They have a hell of a tactical land base force. We have have more toys overall.

Their pilots could probably whup our pilots on average given the same aircraft.

They are well trained and highly motivated--not that our guys aren't, but when you're surrounded by hundreds of millions of durka durkas who want your country to not exist anymore it gives you a little extra oomph. 15-20 years ago, the IAF had more experience kicking *** in actual combat than we did. That's changed lately, so maybe our guys would come out even or ahead.

i recently read an article on their pilots somewhere.

basically, it said that an air force pilot is the highest position a man can obtain in their culture. it said our kids dream of being michael jordan or barry bonds, their kids want to be air force pilots. as a result, the competition is fierce and only the best of the best actually fly.

the article very much gave me the same impression as mdklatt.

They have fewer pilots, but the ones they have are exceptional. They use
F-16's that we sell them, along with the munitions.

In all, we'd take them, but we would lose quite a few.
