There is a guy on there registered as The VIIIth. Anyway, they were saying that back in Jan. this guy got on the soonerscoop message boards and reported that Bomar and others on OU's team were going to lose a couple of games over their employment, or lack there of, with BRSI.....sounds like he had some insider info....

I used to be, I quit over the flack I got after I posted the info...the thread got so twisted by the 50th post that it seemed like I had been the one dishing out the cash and I have no affiliation with any car dealership much less a desire to see one of the few things I remain passionate about, OU football, embarassed like this.

I couldn't be more proud of Bob Stoops. Another Big 12 coach let a young man arrested for sexual molestation on a recruiting trip join his team last week. Somehow I see that as a more heinous crime.

I can tell you that AD's tax return did not implicate him in this problem.

I can also tell you that Three brand new faculty members are coming to the Department of Health and Exercise Science, while a fourth will be rejoining the faculty after holding another position on campus. In addition to Hofford, Jeffrey R. Stout and Chad M. Kerksick will teach exercise physiology.

Dr. Stout received his doctorate from the University of Nebraska, and is a fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine.

Stout is the one that told us about Nebraska's use of creatine while it was still not available in the US.

He said they started using it in 1992 and that he was not aware of another school using it intil it became available in the US in about 1996.

If you look at Nebraska's success in 1993-1995 it makes sense. When everybody else started using creatine the Huskers came back to the pack.

That's all I know right now.

He received a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from Concordia University in 1989 and a masters and doctorate in Exercise Physiology from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1992 and 1995, respectively. In addition, Dr. Stout is a Fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine (FACSM), Fellow of the International Society of Sports Nutrition and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS).

Dr. Stout has conducted and published numerous studies that focus on nutritional intervention on exercise performance, muscle function and body composition in journals such as Journal of Applied Physiology, Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research and Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise. Furthermore, he has edited and co-authored six books on sports nutrition.

Dr. Stout serves on the Editorial Boards of the Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research and Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition and is a regular reviewer for journals such as Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise and Journal of Sports Science and Medicine. He has also attended and regularly presented at each NSCA National Conference since 1993 and was recently elected to the NSCA Research Committee.

Nice try VIIIth, but you know the facts about this case and the 'crime' was not sexual molestation. The kid plead guilty to trespassing. The girls involved did not even want to press charges after the 'incident'. I applaud NU for revoking this kids scholarship pending the outcome of the investigation. Now that it has been cleared up the truth has become apparent and this kid gets a second chance. He also has been placed on a "zero tolerance" basis at NU. Get a life VIIIth and worry about your own team for a change :)

1 MNC, 2 championship game appearances in the last decade. Be careful calling that a throwaway decade ... if memory serves, those stats are similar to OU's (1 MNC, 3 championship game appearances in the last decade). You tell me, is Oklahoma at the end of a throwaway decade?

Yeah when was that MNC and when was one of the championship games....yeah not so recent. Yeah, they sure can put up a lot of points. I remember this one game for the MNC where they put up 55 on some team.

As per your "point" in your prior post -- as you did not specify a start or end date for your arbitrary decade, you can hardly be indignant that different interpretations occurred. If you would like to be more precise -- say, something along the lines of, "Hey, you guys sure have finished at or under .500 twice in the last 35 years, LOL!", have at it.

Man, this early morning crowd is pretty weaksauce. When do your better posters get on usually?

The sad thing is that I like Nebraska because my wife's family is from Nebraska and they are good people, but it's @$$-wipes like unsigned QB that make it harder and harder to be an NU fan. Oh well, I guess leadership starts at the top and with a head coach who is a @$$-wipe then it's not hard to see why a once proud fan base is quickly turning to $hit.

By the way, what is the legality of using a supplement in this country before it's been approved by the FDA? I am under the impression that since it's not a regulated substance or doesn't require a prescription then it's OK. So in that regard kudos to the Nebraska team trainers and physicians for being ahead of everybody else. I would like to see the body of research available on creatine before 1991 when the the team trainers started giving it to the Nebraska football players and whether they had informed consent from players over 21 or the parents of players under 21.

Fact is, Nebraska is dead. The Big 12 has made them irrelevent, and their AD and new football coach have destroyed their tradition. It won't be too long until Callanberger gets his *** fired after winning less than 9 games a season, just like Solich.

Its sad really, but now they are no different than K-State or CU now.

8/5/2006, 09:59 AM
Exactly. Callahan is bringing this whole program down, and the fanbase is going down with it. Either that or the Nebbish fans have always been like this and going through a series of extremely sub-par seasons has finally brought it out of them. I like to prefer the former view since I know a lot of good Husker fans, but I'm not totally against the latter.

Unfortunately, I see Callenburger having a better season this year than last, which will be just enough for him to keep his job. Losing Bomar for us will not, IMO, be as big of a problem as having the QB situation up in the air like it was last year coupled with a porous O-Line with no depth and youth across the board. The coaches have found a starter, he is the ENA, and he could make a lot of people look silly this year, including the Bugeaters (who have not won a national title outright in over a decade -- remember sharing the prize with Michigan in '97 and getting terminated by Miami in '01 without even a Big XII CC to show for it?).

I'm sorry, it was Sexual Abuse due to the molestation of a woman that he was arrested for...

Nebraska has had flagrant problems with the abuse of women going back for a couple of decades.

Perception is everything and no student body deserves to have an overt sexual predator on their campus. Callahan continues to sell you guys out.
UO football recruits charged with abuse
Marvin Johnson and Major Marquis Culbert were accused of sexually abusing dorm residents
By: Susan Goodwin | Crime/Health/Safety Repor
Issue date: 5/26/06
Two football recruits were arrested and charged with burglary and sexual abuse in connection with an alleged incident in January when the men were visiting the University and staying at Barnhart Hall, Eugene Police Department spokeswoman Kerry Delf said.

Marvin Johnson, 18, of Compton, Calif., who signed a letter of intent to play with the University, and Major Marquis Culbert, 18, of San Pedro, Calif., who eventually signed with Nebraska, both pleaded not guilty.

The men are accused of groping two female residents in a Barnhart Hall room on Jan. 14. During the incident, the women allegedly asked the men to leave, which they refused to do, and the burglary charges stem from their alleged refusal, according to an article Thursday in The Register-Guard.

While University officials and EPD will not discuss specifics of the incident, the lead EPD detective in the investigation, Ralph Burks, told the Daily Breeze newspaper that the charges filed do not mean the men raped the women, according to a Tuesday article in the Los Angeles paper.

Both crimes classify as Measure 11 mandatory minimum sentences, and if convicted, the men could face six years and three months in prison.

Culbert was arrested May 15 in Los Angeles and released four days later with an agreement to appear in Lane County Circuit Court next week.

After learning of Culbert's arrest, Johnson turned himself over to authorities and appeared in circuit court Wednesday. Johnson was released without bail.

A trial will be set after June 28, the pair's plea-bargaining deadline, if they choose not to make a deal with the district attorney's office, according to The Register-Guard article.

After learning of the Jan. 14 incident from the Department of Public Safety two weeks after it happened, the University's Athletics Department stopped recruiting Culbert. Because the initial investigation showed Johnson, who was 17 years old at the time, wasn't directly involved, he was allowed to sign a letter of intent on Feb. 1, according to an Athletics Department press release.

"The athletic department takes this issue very seriously and the University is monitoring the situation closely," according to the release. "Johnson's status with the football program, as well as the University, will be dependent upon his exoneration of these charges."

After learning of Culbert's arrest, the Nebraska football program suspended his scholarship offer, according to the Daily Breeze article.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.

He was arrested for Sexual Abuse because he MOLESTED two women. I didn't invent those headlines or the fact that is what he was arrested for.

Frankly, with your teams history of beating women, I'm rather suprised you're not more tacit on the subject.

As far as your comment about a throwaway season, you should be arrested for being a moron.
