I thought, that good phone etiquette says the person that called you, is suppose to end the conversation, and say bye.

I hate the dead silence on the other end when there is nothing left to say, and I am forced to say bye, seems awkward

I'm not a fan when your in line at the bursar or at subway and they guy behind you talks loud trying to be all cool. Yeah I get it, you have a cell phone.

when that happens, I just ask "anything else?" and then say 'bye.

It kind of forces them to either continue with the conversation in a worthwhile manner or end it altogether.

I answer the phone: "Begin transmission."


If the transmission is complete or if I find that the conversation has jumped the shark, I say: "I need to masturbate now. Goodbye."

I have a smart alec habit when I call someone with a receptionist.
Me: May I speak to Mr. Big please.
Receptionist: May I say who's calling?
Me: Yes.

Or...just do this....say...."hey guess what?"..and when they say "what"

you hang up.
