Marshalls? (http://withleather.uproxx.com/post.phtml?pk=6301)

If they choose "Thundercats", I will support this team with all my heart and soul. Anything else, and I go back to cheering for Dallas and Chicago. :DShouldn't that be Marshals?Use a logo featuring THE DUKE wearing a star and I'll go for it.

So, what you're saying is you didn't actually read the link. Stellar.

I'm still liking "Stampede." Haven't heard ANYBODY talk about that as an option, though. Stampede with a bison dude as the mascot. Admit it; it's not nearly as terrible as most of the crap that's floating around.

Considering everything else I've heard is terrible, then I guess you're right. :)

Does anybody have an idea when they're going to unveil everything? "Soon" isn't very descriptive.

I don't know the exact time, but I know it is part of a schedule designed to maximize interest in tickets and sposorship. I guess they will want to have their sales team on the ground here before they do that. They have their space leases done, but I don't know what the status is on bringing people in.

I guess the team name is a done deal, but I sure can't find out what it is. They have it locked down really, really tight.

nice.

This just in: apparently they have culled all of the duplicates out of the list of people who contacted the team wanting to buy tickets, and are left with 15,000 individual names. That is, 15,000 people who want to buy at least one seat (I can't imagine that many people want to buy JUST one seat).

At least as far as the first season is concerned, the building isn't big enough for the ticket demand. Nor, apparently, is any building in the league. Lots of pent-up demand here.

Better get ready to pay more than you paid for Hornets seats.

The only name I really disagree with seems to be kind of popular (Barons). I don't get it. It make me think of this guy:

Why would anybody want to associate themselves with that?

I'd be curious to know how many non-OKC area season ticket holders there will be? How many will come in from Tulsa, Wichita, Amarillo, Lawton, NW Arkansas, etc will make regular trips for games.

Hell, the Hornets MADE money here. This team wants to make LOTS of money. Still, I'm guessing we'll be middle-of-the-pack for teams that AREN'T the Lakers, Heat, Mavericks, Celtics...

Around a $40 average ticket, I'm guessing. League average is $48 (those guys mentioned above, plus a few others, set the curve). The Hornets were in the low thirties when they were here. I'm thinking my $1500 Hornets tickets will be more like $2200-2500 each when you factor in the 41 instead of 37 games.

Time to break open the piggy bank...

Probably because Stampede is the name of an NBA D-League team.

It appears that the Thunderbirds name has also been stolen from the Albuquerque d-league team.

Dude, that's just creepy....

I think we should call them the OKC Tulsans, ya know, since it's their team too. ;)

Just out of curiosity, where has anyone said anything to that effect? I mean, you know, since you keep defaulting to taking shots at Tulsa, I'm assuming there's a reason for it.

Maybe we should make it a poll.

It IS their team too. I know a lot of Tulsans that would prefer the name not include "City." Maybe you don't, I don't really know.

Sorry to offend any Tulsans here that don't have the mentality of many Tulsans I know (family, friends and colleagues) but I do enjoy jabbing them (you) in our friendly, little rivalry. I think it would be great, actually very great if OKC and Tulsa both had NBA teams.

Can you imagine how our little, municipality's' rivalry would turn serious in that case?

Anyway, hope that helps.

He just can't admit to himself that Tulsa sucks ***. It has been a reoccurring theme since I joined the board in 1999, and I imagine it started before that.
