Norman decided to extend its tax free weekend to 4 days this year. It starts on Thursday. The paper said that Norman has about 100 participants this year. So, the boy and I will be going to get school clothes! :)

Tax free weekends are the suck. Instead of saving 15-20% on a normal back-to-school type sale you're saving a whopping 8%. Plus, it's taxpayers and not retailers who eat it.

I wish it applied to alcohol. I need back-to-school vodka and whisky.

There is always one person that has to bring the whole group down.

This is so true. We don't even shop on those weekends.
And we used to laugh at all of the people who would come doen here to shop - gas, hotel, meals...... Now what were you saving?

There's something else that sucks about it--why does it only apply on back-to-school crap for kids?

I remember that. The parking lots at places like Grapevine Mills were 90% Oklahoma cars, and people getting interviewed were claiming that they were saving "hundreds of dollars". I think somebody needs an arithmetic lesson.

They're having a sale in the bakery, too.

Thank goodness I don't have the temperament of Norm! I probably would have suffered a coronary attack by now! Instead, I'm LOL!!!

Last year Dillard's had a big sale on summer clothes that weekend plus tax free. That's the first place I'm going to try.
