Planners, PDAs, good 'ol paper...what's your method for keeping everything together?

I've seen people go to meetings, take notes on paper and then go back to their desks and put it in their planners, planning softwares, etc.

I've seen people carry around a plain 'ol notebook and protect it like their life depended on it. Prolly because they'd be lost without it.

I've seen people tote their laptops around and take notes and stuff where ever they may be at the time.

I've had the Covey planners...I've had the Covey planning software...I've tried lots and lots of stuff but when it comes down to it I always just take a notebook with me and then just keep a color-coded list of stuff. I'm a visual person so it helps me. I color-code file folders, pens, etc. for each project/activity and it really helps me keep things in order.

What do you do?

ditto.

I'm an ADD poster child. I've tried to get organized...just doesn't happen.

I have a notebook that I carry around to LOOK like I'm organized. It has notes from three years ago in it.

I have a notebook and I keep a running 'to do' list in it. I make a little square to the left of it and check the square when that task is done. Most of the time. I'm fairly unorganized.

I used to have a reason to be organized, but now my to do list usually looks like this:

Arrive at work
Login to Soonerfans.com
Review threads
Turn off computer
Go home

So there's really no need to have an organized system.

some of those people just have too much time on their hands :)

I have 2 to-do lists: one for big projects on the horizon & one for the day-to-day stuff that comes up.

In my line of work I'm lucky that I don't really need to be organized from day to day....I organize my stuff for the day each morning and just wing it from there.

I also make hole-in-one's from time to time. But I don't organize those either.

Exactly. Who the hell would have a "scrote" as an avatar?

Or a woman part with strained sweet potatoes on it?

That's what's sick.

A good secretary can make life and work flow at a natural rhythm. My PDA software got all wierd so I had to wean myself off of it. I'm back to the clipboard and Outlook Calendar. That calendar and using up about a server worth of memory for my email file folders, attachments, etc is what keeps the wheels from falling off in my world. Barely though.

That's pretty much the way I do it. And if I forget something, there's always plenty of other people I can blame.

I am a project manager so organization is key to my work. I have...

A treo
An action item notebook
Numerous status reporting spreadsheets
A Covey day planner
Folders, labels, markers, pens, in every color under the sun
Online document storage sites

And I use absolutely none of them efficiently or effectively. I have every possible gimick or gadget to make me organized, and I am the most disorganized PM in my group.

My secretary and I keep duplicate calendars. She's supposed to be the only one who schedules things, but every so often, I add to my own schedule. My responsibility to update her when I do so. Paper calendar is also supported with Outlook. Her responsibility to update that.
