and despite the fact it comprised the soundtrack for the Third Reich, Richard Wagner's music is very uplifting in a martial and glorious kinda way.

Most great artists are/have been whackjobs. There is no doubt Wagner's works were brilliant, though, and none of 'em justify killing ten million Jews. :)

Well, to be fair, they had to edit the Jew-killing scene out of Siegfried because they could never find enough chorus members willing to be killed.
