My wife's windshield on her Honda was hit by a small rock this weekend and a small crack is starting.

Do those "Stop a Crack" windshield repair shops really fix the windshields that have the small cracks? Anyone ever had this done? How much did it cost?

TIA

My roomate bought some sort of treatment at AutoZone or something similar, that seemed to do the trick for him. I don't think it was really expensive, nor do I remember the exact name.

The stuff bought in the store can fix chips. If there is a crack, you should take it to a windshield repair shop to fix before it spreads across your windshield. They drill tiny holes into the crack and fill it with some kind of hardener which stops the crack from spreading.

So yes, take it to a repair shop soon.

That Stop-A-Crack place in Norman used to have a sign out front that said 'we fill holes, too!'.

Heh.

Boomer is correct. We've had it done a couple of times and you can't even tell where there was a crack.

I think the 'rule of thumb' is that if the crack can be covered with a dollar bill then the stop-a-crack will work on it. If not you gots to get a new winder.

I'm finally taking the time to tint the side windows on my Truck tomorrow.

It's freaking hot when I get in to go home.

I forgot to say that the crack stuff was recommended by my insurance company and some will even pay for the repair if you don't wait to have the entire windshield replaced.

GEICO did mine for free the second time. The first time they replaced the windshield for free.

I know, I know, it was my money they used to fix them but there was no deductible for either.
