Netflix recommended this movie 'Primer: What happens if it actually works?' and I watched it over the weekend.

So, basically, these dudes invent something of a time machine.

At first, they innocently play the stock market. Then it gets freaky.

Can't really discuss much without abounding spoilers. Anyone else see this? It reminded me quite a bit of Momento, but I think this one is even more twisty.

It was supposedly made on a $7,000 budget, but I'm not sure.

ANYONE ELSE SEE THIS?

Oh, so you've seen it.

When the main character was taking the tramadol on the second iteration, do you think that he knew that his future self was in Granger's car? I'm going to have to watch it again.

Revealing mistakes: During numerous takes the director, Shane Carruth, mutters "cut" under his breath. According to the DVD commentary, this is due to their extremely low budget which did not allow them to "waste" film. Carruth notes that a total of 80 minutes of footage was shot; the final film is 78 minutes.

Good point. When the main character is running down the alley screaming, "NO I HAVEN'T SEEN IT!" who was he running from? There was no way he could have known there was anyone in the house.

You're way ahead of me, I haven't been able to answer any of the questions I've had about the movie yet.

you know, though, if you just had 8 hours to go back and not much more, there's still a TON of ways you could make a lot of cash. now what happens if you could do a Groundhog Day and continuously repeat those 8 hours until destiny was satisfied?

Don't forget about the unreturned phone calls and the day you knocked on the door for 20 minutes while I hid on the floor under the big picture window.

I’m in a really foul mood, so if I went back eight hours I’d get over that.

I get my dinner delivered tonight and all I hear is that it’s dog. In a plastic bag with dog sauce.

Ewwww!

No, really it’s duck. NOT DOG!

I’m still freaked out about the thought of dog meat in plastic bag that I’m not having any of it.

And, I wouldn’t have wasted time thinking up this little ditty about dog meat.

Dog meat
I don't like it for dinner
I don't like it for lunch
Breakfast is so wrong
No, no, no
No captain pooch munch crunch
Unh-ewnch!

Beano, you big old meano!

That was a very good meal. Gang-gari curry chicken, water cress fried with garlic and chili and chicken livers fried with onions and chili. Served over rice. With my fav Oishi green tea.

That's not dog or duck. And, it wasn't even served in a plastic bag.

I hate you!

That was your fortune cookie, not mine.

You had a chance to go back 8 hours and you still had to read the fortune cookie.

Gosh!

I haven't read this thread because based on Beano's recommendation in another thread, I have the DVD sitting at home. Beano also said that I shouldn't read anything about at all about the movie before I see it.

Apparently I'm very obediant.

Sooner_Bob

I think I turned it off within 10 minutes or so.

I've probably said that already in the other thread.

Yeah, it's strange enough to turn off.

We watched it all, but I still can't say I actually liked it.

10/12/2006, 05:51 PM
That said, I fully understand why some might like the film. Actually, I like it, so never mind.

Oh, and four $million on Texas to cover.
