And I didn't die. In fact, I don't even really itch any more than I did before I went and mowed. So whatever's making my allergies act up, it isn't the grass.

I shall now go fix myself the healthiest dinner ever. BBQ brisket and velveeta shells & cheese.

Sounds good.

Oh, and I noticed there is a very large, very dead cicada-killer wasp just laying on a patch of bare dirt in the backyard. Man, those things are mean-looking.

We had tarantula hawks out in New Mexico, they were huge and evil-looking but fortunately not aggressive toward humans. I disturbed a red wasp nest the other day working in the yard at one of my rent houses, the bastiges nailed me.

Yeah, the red wasps are all over my back fence. Usually they're not too bad, but they all show up right after I water the plants.

The grass probably isn't pollenating right now, and that may be the
part you are allergic to - don't let your guard down.

Allergies succ.

You wouldn't say that if you saw how fast I drop everything I'm doing and run like hell if they start heading for me...

I also won't wear red outside to work in the yard - the wasps either think you're food or a relative.

I wore my OU hat outside tonight and the red wasp flying around me didn't seem to care.

Oh, so I mowed the backyard this morning. Apparently there was a newly-dead cicada laying under some of the grass I mowed, so as soon as I mowed over it and got the grass out of the way another cicada-killer turned up and actually carried the damn thing away.

I mean, it looked like one of these things:

trying to carry something much larger than itself. Klind of funny. From a distance, anyway.

I hope so - I need it as fuel for my potato gun!

I was mowing the grass years ago at the property of a neighbors, out back there was a doghouse that hadn't been used in a year(they gave the dog to a family member)but was never moved.
I bumped the damned thing with the lawnmower and was stung multiple times by yellowjackets. man those things hurt like a mother****er!

My mom says yellow jackets are worse than anything. Luckily I don't have any of those. If I did I'd be declaring jihad and carpet-bombing the hell out of those suckers.

That's the only pic of one of those I could find because I can't remember what the actual name for that type of helicopter is. I just re-hosted it because it was frickin' huge.
