I know, I know... most of you dont care. A few posted interest of the finished product the last time I posted, and everything but the guts is pretty much finished.

Also, some of you asked if we were going to do anything with the rest of the stadium (a VERY valid question). To my surprise, we are pressure washing ALL of the cement in the stadium, updating all the restrooms, and repainting all the concourse areas. Also, we are adding ribbon boards to both upper decks, that run the entire length of the upper deck. They should look something like this:

Here is a movie with a guided tour of some of the stuff inside the new addition (Lockerroom, kitchen, new media room, etc). You can also see the up and coming Crimson Plaza (still pretty ugly atm, but you can get an idea what it will be like).

In the vid, you cant see the stadium addition from the outside,or a full view from the inside, so I'll add these pics:

I REALLY hope we can do another home and home, not only so I can come back to Norman (and have a blast again), but so you guys can come down here as well ;)

P.S.

I talked to a couple ppl on this board (namely AustinTXHorn) that said they would like to attend an Iron bowl some time. Id advise doing it this year... should be a blast in the new stadium.

Also, I was told that your stadium has ribbon boards on it? Is this true? If so how are they used, etc? TIA

they just show advertisements, stats, out of town scores. I don't think they look very good. And they are not used right.

you can see it right below the 2nd deck above the suite windows.

they should have gone all the way to the edge of the level.

I see it, and that is what i expected ours to look like before I saw the pictures.

Ours runs all the way across BOTH upper decks... I just dont see how they can be utilized effectively with that much board to be used. There arent THAT many scores to put up are they?

Ofcourse they will probably be mirror images of each other so everyone can see the same thing... that eliminates most of the problems I am seeing.

don't worry, they will fill the whole thing with ads when needed.

True, but I think they used the old Jumbotron to make those - they probably didn't have enough screen to go that far. It would be nice if it did, though, you could use 1/3 of it as a scoreboard, 1/3 of it as a scrolling stat board, and 1/3 of it as a scrolling score update board. Well, you could do that in whatever time isn't sold to advertisers. ;)

I was really excited to the the ribbon boards installed three years ago at Owen Field, but they look so tiny now in comparison to other places. I'll get to see the new ribbon boards at Bryant-Denny in person this fall so that'll be cool. I'm sure an upgrade will occur at OU in the very near future.

Boy I sure hope so. Then we can see that Bar-S hot dog bouncing the full length of the field.

The twelve flag polls on top of the new upper deck are already reserved for those. Nice idea though. :P

It'll be even better when they build up the north end zone. Get our seating capacity over 100k.

I hate that your expansion wasnt finished when we came to town a few years ago. It looks pretty damn awesome (and high.. wow). Does aTm come to Norman this year? Maybe I can make that game... since I have an interest in it besides seeing the Sooners play ;)

your stadium looks very nice. assign student groups to riot if they name it after a funny-named donor.

Before I left Norman, I wanted to hang up a sign that said, "Welcome to Gaylord Focker Oklahoma Memorial Stadium". That Gaylord name on the stadium still bugs me until this day.

Also, regarding A&M...we play them in College Station this year

our ribbon boards usually show us that games starting 4 hours later are still 0-0. I still have to rely on my internet service on my cell phone for scoring updates most of the time
