I say Cuh-rib-ee-an. Except when I talk about the Pirates of the Caribbean movie. Then, and only then, I say Care-uh-bee-an.
Pretty weird, eh?

Care-a-bee-un.
But I'm a hillbilly so, you know..
*shrug* That's how Bob Marley pronounces it.
Buffalo soldier, dreadlock rasta,
Fighting on arrival, fighting for survival;
Driven from the mainland to the heart of the caribbean.
I thought it depended on if you were using it as a noun or adjective.

In Billy Ocean's "Caribbean Queen" song, he pronounces Caribbean both ways. Although when he's pronouncing Care-uh-bee-an, it sounds like he's pronouncing it Care-uh-bean.

He likes to hop in the tropical sea
Cuh-rib-ee-an Amphibian
A frog in a coconut tree"
