So, I had wanted a scooter for when I go back to school in August. Just to give me something easier to get to class on. Anyway, a guy in town is selling a Honda 110 Trail Bike. It looks pretty much exactly like this:
http://i19.ebayimg.com/01/i/07/bb/37/89_12.JPG

I don't know what it is, but I've kinda fallen for the thing. I'm going to check it out later this afternoon.

Anyone ever had one of these?

If your fellow inmates find out you bought one of those, you will suffer mightily. I'd wait until you are cleared of any charges before buying it just to be safe.

buy it and bury it under a pile of brush just outside the prison walls, then use it to make your harrowing escape. http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d167/bushtit/smilies/cool.gif

just because Honda calls it a "trail bike" doesn't mean it is one.

Dude, it's a moped.

Texas is a big state. I don't think that thing will make it to Mexico. (It does have a chain you can yank, though...)

How old is that thing? When I was a kid, the guy across the street had one of those. That guy was the biggest dork I have ever seen - seriously.

So, yeah, Sic’Em buy that big boy, don your leather gear and chase some of those crosslegged women down.

Anyone ever had one of these?

We had a pair of those; we rode 'em one week out of every year (on vacations in CO) we had to do a paperclip rig-job on the carburetor so they'd run in high altitude.

For riding around on deserted hiking & jeep trails in the mountains & stuff, they were ideal.

Well, the one I'm looking at getting is a bit older than that. I think it's a late 80s model, but it was never really ridden. Just has a couple thousand miles.

It's ugly which is kinda what I like about it. It's got some kind of endearing quality. The thing doesn't actually need to run on trails; I just need it to get me the 4-5 blocks to class.

He has to cross I-35 or something like that.

Because it'd actually be like walking 10-15 blocks to get to a crossing point unless I wantd to literally run across I-35 in the middle of Waco...no thanks.

There is an underpass that I could wlak under a bit closer, but that's where all of the homeless cohort and there are usually missionaries out there preaching...no thanks.

If I buy this thing then I'll post a pic of me riding the thing in a Dukakis type shot.

So do accidents and train wrecks. Turning heads isn't always a good thing....

$800!

You better try to get him down to $250.00.

I'd also go check with Honda to see if you can still get parts for the thing if you pay more than $300.

Grew up ridin' and old one of those as a wee lad. You can't hurt the damn things too badly and they last forever. Mine had a gizmo on the tranny to switch from Low to High gears. The low gears were good for pulling out tree stumps and climbing steep hills and stuff. OK, maybe not for pulling out stumps but in the low-range you could putt putt up some seriously steep stuff. Years later I took a buddy from OK trail riding in Idaho. I rode a RT180 and he rode the old Honda. Got him up so high on some slippery shale that dood was pretty damn spooked. You'll look like a dweeb but save a fortune in gas $$.

I think Honda still makes basically the same model for the Far East emerging markets.

Mark had a Honda Rebel or Suzuki GZ250 at The Euro Shop (Ducati/Triumph/Victory dealer) not that long ago.

On a strangely related note, I came up with a new ghey term. Yesterday, I saw two dudes riding on a vespa. Thus, gheyer than two dudes on a vespa will be my new benchmark for things ghey. Odd that a sic'em scooter thread would rear it's old ugly head today...

"gheyer than two dudes on a vespa".....works for me.

though, scooters ARE a practical means of transportation in my view. in Perry, Oklahoma where my G-maw lives...lotta people have them to get around town.

but, Perry is pretty much San Francisco East. heh.

I really have no issue with the scoots, ( ;) BRJ ) I just think two guys one = NTTAWWT. In their defense, they were heading towards Chelsea on 17th St.
