My knee hurts so bad that I just popped a cold perineal bag. So basically folks I'm limping around the house with a maxi pad taped to the back of my leg.

Lets see what else I have in my sample closet that I can use incorrectly.

Generic over-the-counter ibuprofen works wonders, assuming it it a muscle issue.

I'm currently going through a lower back injury. If you think it's a not-so-serious muscular injury, you might give it a try. Sure beats going to the chiroquackter.

No offense, chiropractor lovers.

The doc's say I have a cyst behind my knee cap smushed in between that and my acl. They say they can't operate. So now I'm tired of feeling like crap all the time so I have been working out and it just kills my knee.

Heh, knowing my luck I wouldn't get to be that kindof drug rep I would stuck with the damn IBS pills or erectile disfunction crap.

Ohh and Rhino yells at me because I take to many advils. 20 a day isn't THAT bad, is it?

Just kidding, although I used to take that many a day after my acl surgery so that I could walk, now I'm down to about 6-8 day.

I'm currently going through a lower back injury. If you think it's a not-so-serious muscular injury, you might give it a try. I'll eventually end up with liver, kidney, and stomach issues from all the NSAID's I take through my life. I'll also have severe arthritis which causes significant disabling pain that leads me to the surgical table...a few times, and never get any relief. Sure beats going to the chiroquackter and preventing all of that because my pride and lack of understanding made me too smart to ever go.

No offense, chiropractor lovers.
Fixed that for ya.;)

Lil, get a second opinion or a third. My faith in just one doctors opinion has diminished quite a bit in the last few years. I suffered with my knee for 2 years needlessly listening to a doc tell me my knee was worn out and there was'nt anything he could do until I was old enough to have it replaced. I got two new opinions and found that I had no ACL in my good knee. You probably heard me babble about this before but the ACL replacement they performed last October relieved the pain and has made my good leg alot more stable than it's been in years. Don't suffer like I did.....now my back is bad but I've at least limited my pain to one generalized area instead of two.

I think I need a second opinion they said they would have to cut through my acl to get it out, and there is a chance that it could come back. I dunno though it hurts like a biotch.

Dean would tell me just to cut it off and quit being a *****.

achiro, I have no problem with your field. In fact, I've been to two different chiropractors in the last month.

I'm just relaying what ACTUALLY WORKED for my situation.

And for the record, I have taken less than 20 tablets containing ibuprofen in the last 20 years. In fact, last week was the first time I had taken medication stronger than coffee in over five years.

Put that in your inflamed semitendinosus and "align" it. ;)

How about a nice cortisone injection right into the ol' knee? NFL guys swear by them...although I bet they swear at them when that monster guage needle is stabbed into their knee.

I really feel sorry for you people who suffer from chronic pain. The only pain I ever feel is when I hurt myself - and that goes away pretty quick.

Good knees, good back, good ankles, pretty much good everything. Pecker still functions magnificently (if I do say so myself) so I've never even seen a viagra, I can still throw a football about 50 yards, hit a softball out of the park, swing a golf club, jog, lift weights, climb mountains, hunt, and pretty much every other physical endeavour. My only bitch is that I'm a fat *** - but I can fix that.

God bless y'all with pain.

The cortisone shot in my shoulder hurt so bad I would never do it again. It lasted 2 days - not worth the pain. When they tore the adhesions on the shoulder, they did a drip for several hours that was awesome. Immediate full use of the shoulder with no pain.
So if you go for the cortisone injection, insist on a general anesthesia. YWIA

Buddy get down on those good knees and thank the good lord for the health he's given you. I feel pretty blessed even though I've had all these problems all my life. And with all my problems my wife still thinks I'm a pretty virile, studly man ;) and I look no further than her for that opinion.

3200 mg is the max you should take, per day, of ibuprofen. 6-8 is just fine. 20, not so much!
Get a second opinion. IF the pain bothers you that much on a daily basis, someone will operate. To me, it sounds like it would be worth it for a chance of pain relief. However, if it doesn't bother you that often, take the ibuprofen. Tramadol is a lot stronger, you might ask about it.
