Well, almost. It's got all the gizmos to be a great computer but it's got integrated video that's the succ for playing games. (I've spent the last two nights scouring the innerweb for a fix & it just ain't happnin'.) It's an Averatec 3715 EH-1. 1.6 ghz, 512 ram, 60gb HD, 12.1" monitor, & a DVD burner. A perfect computer, I thought. 4 lbs. makes it easy to haul around & its smallness makes for a good fit in these small trailers.

So, I call my wife & tell her I need to upgrade to a video card & it'd be about $200 or so bucks. Well, she likes this notebook & tells me to go buy another one. So I guess when I get back to civilization I'll buy the Averatec with the ATI card. That'll make 3 notebook purchases in the last 6 months.

Dear Bruce,

I'm in the market for a new laptop.

Do you have any suggestions?

dell outlet is great, i just bought an intel duo core t2400, 2 gb ram, 100gb hd, 17" wide screen, 256 mb nvidia 7800 go video card, dvdrw (dual layer) for 1200 ish before taxes and the extended warranty. The only thing I don't like is the display was upgraded, I'd rather have the normal one that does 1440 x 900 instead of 1920 x 1200.

you can get smaller displays, you jut have to customize your search to what you want. also the refurbished ones are a bit cheaper then the previously ordered new ones.
