Todd Dodge. Bosworth ate him and crapped him out in the 1st quarter.

I always remember that defense being really stout but when I see clips like that, I'm still amazed. And that was 20 years ago!!

I *almost* felt sorry for that UT quarterback. Almost.

All those great plays and only 14-7???????????????? Thats is weird.
Who was our QB #18 at that time I thought it was Aikman, holloway then thompson.

I don't think there will ever be ANYTHING associated with OU football that warms my heart quite the way seeing an OU back take a pitch from the QB out of the wishbone, hitting the sidelines and taking it to the house does.

You know, these days, people put together some pretty rediculous highlight tapes with some pretty crappy songs to go with them, but I have to say that this one has to be one of the most well thought-out highlight clips/music that I have seen in a while....

of course, they wouldn't have run the wishbone if he didn't.

that game just setup the arse kickings of the next few years.

I remember that game well; last game Aikman finished at OU, and the D gave up 70 total yards and only 4 first downs to the short horns; next game was against Miami, and we all know what happened then.

Wow!!! Jason White was on the team for 20 years!?!?! :O

J/K, You know, I think that Aikman-kid will make a fine NFL QB someday. Not a bad coach either... ;)

We should have beat them by 6 TDs.

a couple of things:

1) if this game were still being played right now, i.e. the game lasted 11 years, do you think UT would have figured out to put a hat on that #44 kid for OU? he looks kinda good.

2) the wishbone is the prettiest offense in history.

More than awesome yes, but it doesn't refresh my sOUl like 63-14 in 2000. Anyone got a link to a highlight video from that game?

I was there. I will never forget how Bosworth performed. The entire defense played great. But he was both exhilarating and terrifying to watch.

I thought it was a distinct possibility that he might kill someone that day.

I also believe that had Aikman not gone on and gotten his leg broken against Miami we would have been undefeated with him at the helm. He was finally starting to get efficient running the bone; and, people forget that when he went out early in the second quarter against Miami, he was like 6-8 passing for 130-some yards. With him we had the balance to win that game. I think Switzer even said as much.

And yet, we pulled through with a freshman option wiz and won it all anyway.

So in the end, I guess that's what makes the '85 championship all that much sweeter. Top to bottom, we really were the best team in the country that year.

Speaking of old Sooner clips, any of you know what happened to the dude from Houston who had all the classic 70s stuff from Barry and the boys? I need to get with him and convert some stuff to DVD.

"HoustonSooner" or something... there's more than one in Houston, I'm sure.

Even though Bob Barry is kinda senile at times, you gotta appreciate the fact that we still have someone around our tradition from the Wilkinson era... I kinda like the guy for his spunk. I guarantee you no old man I know can sport the "TOUCHDOWN OKLAHOMA" like ol' BB can...

Couldn't disagree more. I much preferred JIIIIIIIIIIMINY CHRISTMAS! I also preferred the coherence. I don't find his "Merv, where's my hotdog" routine cute, either.

Their QB that year was Todd Dodge, but he isn't the one who married Mary Lou Retton. Shannon Kelly, the quarterback a couple of years later, was the one who married MLR.

I'm thinking the third was Eric Mitchell. If I remember correctly, he was very talented but was stuck behind Holiway and later Thompson so they moved him to RB.
